Who would have thought you played at such a high standard?
Well done you, for being so modest, for so long.

I knew I'd seen that name before. It was all over the local press when he got a transfer to Anal Retentives FC playing in the Hackers League on Hackney Marshes. Blimey, rubbing shoulders with the creme de la creme ain't we?

Keeps - I never indicated that I played football at a high level, I'm flattered that you seemed to think I had but I was sadly never a Lee Scott or Jonathan Donoghue

Thanks for your interest although I'm wondering where this is leading, I played right wing as I was quite fast, my claim to fame is that Cliff Jones once complimented me on my wing play as he was Sports Coach at Highbury Grove School.

I just wondered if Clifford "Hot-to-trot" Rhodes was more of a giver or a taker.

Horace, did you see Cliff Jones' ex-Hertford grandson scored twice for Bradford Reserves last night! (and an assist)

Jonno - I used to play for Rotherham United and Bristol City in the Association of Provincial Football Supporters Club's in London (APFSCIL) League and hung up my boots at about 35, I could have gone on for a lot longer. Prior to that I played regularly on Sunday mornings over Hackney Marshes, how about you, you seem more into music and golf than football.

Even back then you didn't know what team you supported!

Sjj2112 - You haven't told us anything about your holiday in Germany sampling the many beer kellars of Bavaria, how was it and did you take in any games whilst you were over there.

Sjj2112 - You haven't replied to my posts which is surprising as you are normally so quick off the mark, were you at the Wolfsburg v Stuttgart game on 7 August.

It's annoying isn't it when people don't answer direct questions............

I will willingly give / have given details of my holiday to people who have a genuine interest. You just used it as a way to change the subject.

Sjj2112 - Well if this was your 'question', for your information I was good friends with Gerry God, sorry Gow, in those days and watched him turn Rotherham's fortunes around in the early 80's when Emlyn Hughes brought him to Millmoor.

That was a charity game NF and to be fair, I wasnt that bothered about scoring....and if you believe that you'll believe anything!!! A superb save from John Walton denied me my moment in the sun!!!!

I played for the county as a schoolboy, had trophy strewn spells with Broxbourne Saints and Broxbourne Rangers, but alas a terrible car accident put paid to my long term career at the age of 18. Couldnt walk for nearly a year and put enough weight on to make it a battle to get rid of it and keep it off for the next 10 years. Although my knee is now strong as an ox, Ive never played higher than one appearance for HTFC 1st Team and around 40 or so appearances for the reserves.

Music did kind of take over my life at an early age and I do dedicate most of my free time to it, as well as, as you rightly point out, doing battle on the greens and fairways!!
