Ron Burgundy
Who in their right mind agreed to the wide ranging use of those? Not been involved in SSML for a while and i couldn't believe my eyes when i saw pictures in my local paper!! According to a few people i've spoken to they are rubbish to, like playing with a 99p post office classic!! It seeems the league committe are hell bent on making this league a laughing stock - monthly fixtures, orange balls, the bearded lady at St Margetsbury, woo hoo the circus is in town!! Scottie_DTFC
As these balls were used in the World Cup in 2006 but were branded with adiddas (as Molten make their balls), I would expect them to be of top quality. Certainly had nothing but praise from our bouys.
NeutralFan
Interesting Scottie as I saw them for the first time last night, they sounded dead if you get what I'm saying. God knows what they're going to be like when the weather gets colder!! PS And they look awful
Jonno
Agreed NF. They look terrible, sound terrible and its like kicking a lead weight. Strange flight too. Typical tin pot SSMFL.........

golder
i dont think they are to bad to be fair. not the best ball in the world but definatly good enough.
tringarmy
My early impression is that they seem to be better than the silver ones from last year in terms of the true flight of the ball. Not sure how they will be in floodlit matches though tryng to see the ball coming out of the dark spots. When the autumn leaves fall such as at Tring or Colney Heath there could be few that get lost
PeterPan1
The balls are poor and feel alot lighter than the silver ones of last year, they feel like cheap balls that ud buy for your sunday team to train with and molten are more famous for making volleyballs and netballs so think they should stick to making them why cant they make the balls used in the ryman league there probably the best balls thru out non league structure...my question is whos idea is it to make the ssmfl play with an orange ball and rumour has it that there will be yellow ones after christmas so teams have to spend money on purchasing them aswell so the sponsors are gettin a guaranteed income anyone heard of this too? Rhodes
Check out some of the balls in the huge Molten range at bargain basement prices, I really don't know why the company are suddenly coming in for this petty criticism as, at the end of the day, they are supporting the SSML and raising the League's profile Worldwide: http://www.newitts.com/shop/1/12/Molten.htm
samuelsmiles
Rhodes, my friend, thanks for the link. Have you noticed that if you hovver your curser over the balls you can get a good close-up of it. Also, if you click on the ball it will come out at you. Surprisingly good fun. I've just spent ten minutes doing just this. Thanks again.

They are doing bugger all to raise the profile, merely looking for a few quid by getting all the clubs in the league to have to shell out for them when the poor quality shows through and they have to be replaced. We have a few of the silver balls left over at Hoddesdon but apparently we aint allowed to use them this season!!! Do we get a refund??? Thought not..... We have to put an advert in our prog for them too, which they get for free (and you know as well as I do, having your company listed in the multi award winning Hoddesdon prog is worth its weight in gold... ;P) Molten Scmolten..... Jonno
p.s when was the last time you had a go at kicking a football Rhodes?? No offence old bean, but your days of strumming one into the old onion bag are long gone and todays footballer demands more from the ball than back in your day, when the balls still had laces!!! (...feel free to insert your own jokes regarding Rhodes and "strumming one off" here........)

Jonno - I used to play for Rotherham United and Bristol City in the Association of Provincial Football Supporters Club's in London (APFSCIL) League and hung up my boots at about 35, I could have gone on for a lot longer. Prior to that I played regularly on Sunday mornings over Hackney Marshes, how about you, you seem more into music and golf than football.
NeutralFan
Last time I saw Jonno kick a ball it was a penalty that was saved by someone at least twice his age
