Barking 2 vs 5 Southend Manor

Just got back from a very good, competitive, fair game with both sides trying to play football in front of the League Chairman. Manor were as usual solid, organised and experienced but unlike previous Manor sides not overly physical.

Barking are a decent little side but are young, inexperienced and very naive. Not a 5 - 2 game but Manor dominated the game for large spells, except for about 10mins just after half time. But Barking will be kicking themselves because all 5 goals were very, very poor defensively - 2 corners and the other 3 all directy on the break from Barking corners!

Manor will not trouble the title contenders in terms of points but will certainly be top 6 or thereabouts and will as usual be a side who will take points off everyone. I think Barking will finish mid to lower mid table due to inexperience more than anything. Good going forward but defensively and in midfield need to improve alot.

As for players the Manor forward who scored the last goal caused problems all night and is a real handful. Will score plenty of goals and cause problems for most teams but will struggle against a big, experienced centre half.

JJ - you bald patch is bigger than expected grin. Roscoe - is that Talk Is Cheap? If so both Barking goals came from your side mate..... grin

Flip Flop never ever call me a teaboy again after I saw you using a clipboard to deliver several teas to the manager and subs! bolt

And lastly I saw a big name in league/non league footie there tonight, could say legend....may be turning out for Barking soon..... wink

I was still knackered from fetching all our half time shots from over the fence....A certain Squadron Leader skied several doah

I see that news of my cameo appearence must have spread around Barking earlier in the day...it looked to have added an extra 10 people onto the usual attendance grin

Best Manor player on the pitch against Ilford the other night as well. I think it's all the hay he eats.

Well done to the Manor boys, can't realy complain about scoreline, Being a bit generous cos i thought we were dreadful aside from a little spell second half when we got our two goals. Right about Anton, absolutely on fire and too good for us on the night, Think naive defensively bit kind Jenks, players at this level should know the basics and your favourite players The Krankies would have done better with those corners.

Even so thanks for the positives, some good players at the club so early days yet and plenty of time to put things right.

J did us up like a kipper by not paying as team talk entirely based on how to stop im, hurry up with them pens need to get a plan B up on marker board next time.

Wasn't tea- it was coffee that much was obvious, what else do you do with a clip board at football then?

Agree with TIC. When you play 3-5-2 you have to have the players to do otherwise you can get tonked. I think it is a system where you need some experienced players.

But Flip Flop I think with an experienced centre half and centre mid you'll be ok. I may dust my boots off if you like! grin

As for the tea......you know you were sent to get the orders for the real management! biglaugh

You're right about the tactics TIC but i had Jenko advising me so whay do you expect, should have remembered the old days and done exactly the opposite.

Triggs you're right i have been pushing for a start but me and the Boss had to play most of the second half against Leyton and i still can't walk probably- hobbling around like your missus after the annual game of hide the sausage- so maybe time to hang up the boots. Will never forgive you for not signing me on that last season at the Manor, believed that haven't got a pen routine for the first 10 weeks of the season until bumped into you selling thousands of em at that dodgy car boot- that was tough to take.
