Still not sure what to make of these pre-season friendlys considering that we have played more than usual, 11 (counting 2 for the hillingdon games).

 

It looked like tonights might be the 11 that will play on Saturday, however Craig O,Connor came on at what is his first run out so far! - the other twist tonight was that we had enough players around at half time so that we had 11 players warming up during the break!

 

In some ways these games have raised more questions than they have answered - so we will still need to wait till Saturday to see who makes the team sheet!

 

Otherwise the 2-1 win was well deserved.

Well well, never a dull moment with SB in charge.

 

If we've signed Bowden-Haase it will be a major coup. He is a player of Conference quality. Also Craig O'Connor turning out in a Slough shirt looking like a weight-lifter!

 

Thought we played some nice stuff with Chris Herron and Steve Sinclair the architects of most of the quality moves.

 

If we can start putting away the moves that we create we will punish a lot of teams.

lot of positives again today

 

Tommy Hayes finally showed what he is capable of and really impressed. Simon Martin is getting better and better

 

midfield still was much better going forward than back defending

 

if Bowden-Haase has/is signing then that is a truly excellent signing even if it was a short term thing.

 

good to see Jordan having a go at goal and getting the winner. O'Connor looked useful but a bit off of match fitness.

 

as mentioned picking the first 11 has become even more complicated and hard to predict than at any point during this preseason

Nathan Bowden Hasse has signed a one year contract at Slough after struggling to combine the travelling to Histon with his daily work committments....happy days !

Well I think that last night was a good performance overall, but I thought we lacked a little bit upfront (lots of possession but not many chances) until DJ came on, who looked very sharp despite missing a couple of games.

 

Think that the midfield we started with last night will be our first choice 4 across the middle and they seemed to combine well with each other and the rest of the team.

 

Little bit concerned about the defence though, I did hear a rumour that Dean Harper is not happy with being bumped down the order, and if we have signed Bowden Haase then that is not necessarily going to help that. Although we do have some quality defenders I would be worried if Dean was to leave because of his commitment and effort to the club.

 

Looking forward to Saturday, bring it on!

An interesting game last night with us trying out a few things with players starting in different positions and a couple of trialists on the bench but with most of our obvious starters for Saturday missing.

Good performance last night, against a team at the same level as us.

I thought we played some excellent football and fully deserved the win. Thought Harps had a great game at right back and the new centre half was extremely solid. Certainly SB has his work cut out deciding on the starting eleven for Saturday, but what a good headache to have after previous seasons! Roll on Saturday.

WR, I think what annon is getting at is that it wasn't their strongest 11, players out of position/trialists etc.

 

But, IMo opinion for most of the game we were totally dominant and if the scoreline had been 4 or 5-1 it would have been a truer reflection on the game.

You can only play the team put out against you! and the Slough team did just that and won 2-1.

 

Saturday is the one that matters and until then what has happened in preseason counts for nothing.
