First 3 games-how many points will we get ?

Calling us defeatists is a bit much, I have always been behind the team but I still think 3 points would be a good start against the teams we play. Of course if we get all 9 I will be highly delighted, my heart says 3 wins my head says hopefully 3 draws or maybe a win and 2 draws smile

As most of us seem to be happily settling for a mid table position this season, 4 points from 3 games would give exactly that;so maybe we are all being sensible hoping to achieve 3/4 points from these first 3 incredibly tough games;and would be consistent with a mid table finish

Of course-the heart says win every game-but it just does not happen.

I can envisage losing all 3 games-not good-but certainly would not write off the season if that did transpire ;as again, i see it as a really tough set of 3 games-especially with Dan Young out ;and it looks now as though TY will not get that quality central midfield player in time for these games

I think playing two 'fancied' teams so early might benefit us. I'd prefer to go to Sutton now rather than in November when they might be near the top of the league and have plenty of confidence and a big crowd behind them. Also some of these teams have had quite a few changes over the summer, whereas we are pretty much the same, so they might get off to a slowish start.

We are all equal at the start of the season, we all have no points. Last season for a large part of our first game against Carshalton, who then went on to become a front runner, we were leading them and it was more a case of us losing the game than them winning it. Even then if Michael Power's shot hadn't nearly demolished an upright near the end we would have come out of it with one point.

Who knows - we might have even been one of the favourites after that?

Let's give the team and the management some confidence.

Ok, if I'm being 'negative' or a 'defeatist', how about this:

We'll win every game - 5-0 - and the FA will take pity on us considering our off-filed problems of the last few years, so will give us a 20-point 'bonus'. Every team in the league will appeal against it and will subsequently get docked 10 points from the Ryman League for bringing the game into disrepute. The FA will uphold this, even going as far as to double the points each team is docked for their heinous offences. As a result, we'll have the title sewn up by..... say.... November? Oh, and on leaving Sutton's ground on Saturday, one of our fans will find 27K stuffed behind a hedge, and naturally will donate it to our club to save us....

Better? grin

I thought we were very unlucky not to get a point against Sutton last season and we had two good games against Dartford despite our finish, so I think we will draw those two matches and a win against BW. There, 5 points, no problem!!!

Whilst i was not expecting too many points from the first 3 games, i certainly did not contemplate goals against being in double figures-surely not.

C'mon the 'Gate-

A nice 0-0 bore draw will do fine on tuesday.

You got your fingers crossed for us to WIN Ian? Don't think so somehow!

I see your Firthy is causing a stir again over there. You are going to have a problem with him this season I reckon judging on what I've seen & from what I have read from yesterday. When I visited your place for a friendly I overheard him mouthing off & complaining just behind me & for all to hear about being substituted then. Maybe he will calm down a bit in time.Someone should tell him its a team game not an individual one.

Well-as i see it-the predicted tough start was exactly that.

I am more than delighted with the 3 points.

Totally undesreved win on saturday but who cares-we will lose games we deserve to win.

i see someone posted that BWood were a poor side-everyone has their opinions but for me-BW were a good side-top 8 ;so definately a case of a 'nicked' 3 points there.

Did'nt see dartford or sutton-so i assume they wete even better sides;but for me-BW played quality football in that second half-their build up play from midfield was very good (albeit once robinson went off in his holding role-we were literally left with Wayne wilson up against 4 of their guys in midfield-so maybe its no wonder their midfield took complete control ).

Was originally hoping for a win tonight-obviously still hoping-but seeing saturdays result that they had;and taking into account injuries to key players in West and Robinson;i'd be delighted with a point tonight-tough one again though.

I read that Aveley are a big physical, bulldozering, bullying side-not our favourite type of opposition.
