Your first choice team

So with just 5 days till the season starts, what team would you put out against sutton coldfield. Mine would be a 4-4-2 as follows:

 

Ricky Perks

Sweeney Harper Edwards Murphy

S Sinclair Kean Edgeworth Herron

Martin Buchanen

 

Good to have a headache as i have left a lot of quality players out i.e. dj, jacman, romeo, etc

Romeo up front instead of Buchanan (who after all has

only had one game with us)

True, I also think dj should be given a chance with martin too. Need to use our strikers depending on what type of defence we are up against, that is the difference in having 4 quality strikers.

I would agree too I think I would also start with DJ or Romeo upfront for the same reason.

Also agree it's good to have good players that we can put on the bench. Really looking forward to seeing how Bateman approaches the game on Saturday and how our new squad does in the first few games.

Providing we sign no more players this week or there are no more injuries i'd say the team picks itself apart from two positions:

 

Centre back: Harper or Jackman alongside Edwards

 

Forward: Who plays up front with Martin? Between Buchannan, Hayes, Pringle (If they sign) and Yash.

 

Can't see DJ making the starting line-up due to the fact he's missed the latter pre-season games.

agree with Chris really centre back and strike force is all that really has question marks over who will actually play. Buchannan has a great record at this level but in a different league. think Romeo deserves a chance hopefully on tuesday to play up front and prove himself one way or the other to Bateman

Couple of points Mr Rebel:

Where did you find out about Buchanan's 'great record at this level'

and did Jackman injure his neck in the Ashford game?

well i read on here i think that he got 23 in 25 games 2 seasons ago which got him a move to Stevenage in the conference. think it was ryman div 1 though. so maybe saying great record was a bit much because he is still young

 

i heard Jackman had a neck injury. thinking about it i think it may be an ongoing slight problem as the game at the Polish club he seemed to be struggling a bit with some kind of niggle

I would like to see three centre halves instead of a back four.My line up would be -

Perks

Sweeney Jackman[sweeper] Edwards

Sinclair Kean Harper[holding midfield] Herron

Edgeworth[in the hole behind the front two]

Romeo Martin

 

Subs:Murphy,Sealey,Buchanan,Gumbs and Jordan.

 

I feel Jackman is short of pace but would be of benefit in the sweeper role. Playing like our great Conference player, Gary McGinnis used to.

I also think our midfield two of Kean and Edgeworth are offensive type players and do not do enough defensive work,thus inviting pressure on our defence.This is why I would put Harper in as holding midfield player,who can also do defensive duties at set pieces.

After last year Romeo deserves to start up front.Buchanan certainly has the right pedigree but as he's only started once for us,he should be on the bench.
