Lots of reasons...Slough supporters will see the shirts and any form of advertising has an effect whether it has an immediate impact or it's "slow-burn"...it gets the name known and increases "brand awareness", photos taken at away games may appear in the local newspapers and on websites which will be seen by people in the local area.

In our case, we're happy to show support for STFC whether or not we get any business out of it - and presumably the other companies who entered the Away Kit Sponsorship Draw also saw some relevance in it.

Anon, as you don't quite understand, let me enlighten you.

We will be wearing our away shirts at Beaconsfield, Burnham, Marlow and Chesham plus any local cup games i.e. Berks and Bucks cup.

Any extra business picked up from those games will probably more than compensate for any outlay.

Besides the money aspect, they sound like they are supporters of Slough Town and more than likely chuffed to bits just to see their company name on a Slough Shirt.

I can see the point the Anon has as it is an "away" kit, but there are benefits to be associated through the club. For instance those that entered the draw will also be getting web links on the official site, Clearway Training School alongside Hammer already have their logos proudly displayed.

Last season (August-June) the official site had:

91,000 visits

24,000 unique visitors

377,000 individual pages viewed

So even though the shirt is being worn away, the potential for an local audience is huge.

But we're NOT "just" a Slough company smile

Admittedly we operate only in Berks, Bucks, Middx and Surrey (at the moment), but when you run your own business, you quickly realise that you need to "think outside the box" and not just stick to what is obvious in terms of self-promotion...Reading Rebel clearly understands where we're coming from - and it's not just about advertising ourselves, it's also about supporting the club.

Associating ourselves with STFC may not bring us any immediate new business, or indeed any business at all - but seeing shirts/programmes/perimeter advertising boards with our company name on will burrow our name subliminally into people's minds and who knows when either they or someone they know will be looking for a driving school and they'll remember us - possibly years later laugh

It would of course be helpful if people remembered the right name (for some reason we've been referred to here and on the Offical site as all sorts of variations on a theme), but "Clearway" should be enough for people to find us if they need to smile

Anyway, enough about us...on with the football smile

Anyone that commits themselves to supporting the club like this, whether they stand to gain from it or not, should be applauded, not have their motives questioned.

The fact that it's long-standing supporters makes it even better. Still can't buy the away shirt though - too much like Crystal Palace colours!!!
