Bateman announces initial squad

23 yes but straight away you can take Jackson, Sippetts and for now Fenton out of that due to injury.

Lawford i would imagine is a "last resort" registration incase we are ever desperately short. then for now at least we are basically down to the number Bateman suggested early on in preseason.

we may be a tiny bit short in midfield but i like the depth we seem to have in that squad list with a few of the strikers able to play midfield if need be

All the players have a brief CV on the teams they have played for except Grant Avis. Anyone have any idea where he has played before?

While on the subject, with all the new players I think it's a must to have a players interview section in next seasons match day programme (no doubt the programme editors have this in hand).

Mr Rebel if we are short in the midfield there is the likes of DJ who can drop back and then there is also Roy Gumbs who will play where ever you want and always give 110%. We also have so many forwards that if they want a game they will have to accept other positions as required.

I personally think Roy should play a regular role in the team even if that is every other or third game and even only as a sub, as when he comes on there is a buzz due to his enthusiasum and presence.

The squad assembled by Steve Bateman looks ace, with certainly a healthy competition for places. One thing I have found very commendable with Steve's tactics,is that he's not afraid to play a player out of his position ie last season he played Dean Harper as a holding midfield player.

So with this mind,I do not think we're short in midfield,as Mr Rebel suggests, but have a squad very adaptable to suit the occasion.

Nice to have few more players within the squad,as I thought initially Steve Bateman was quoted as saying that he could only have 17 players in his starting squad.

One other thing,on the website it says Dean Sinclair played for 'Bobbington',shouldn't it read 'Bovingdon'? or is it that I'm wrong?

3spirit your right about Dean Harper playing the holding role I think he was also there preseason in the Hillingdon game in which he also scored, might be a clever move by Bateman!!!!

all i meant was ideally we would have 1 more specialist midfielder i did mention that others could fill in if needs be. Harper played fairly well in that Hillingdon game in midfield. his goal was from a corner so not really much to do with where he was playing but still he is a possible again if needed
