Division Two Cup

Recommended Posts

Be an interesting Season. Can't see pass the new Berko side, Mick Vipond will win the league and the Cups, lots of fines in the process and not much development of young players. See why the club gave him the job, not going to develop the club long term. Tring are a good football side, been told not much different from 2 seasons ago, the Parrett experiment has failed and he has left, top 6 team won't win anything. Aston have picked up all the Aylesbury Vale players binned out as a result of the new broom and name change. Good players but a poor manager hence he has gone from the Premier Div to Div 2. May win things despite the manager. Woodson Park and 61FC are good sides. Best player in the league a forward for Blechley, only small but good player. If premier manager could see what he can do and not what he can't he is worth a shout.

Not a big shout at all, watch him a few time last season, very good player, has control, movement, vision etc but only 5"6 I would guess. So in the age of big lumps at SML level most managers won't see what he can do and will concentrate on what he can't do and wont take the chance.

As to why he isn't playing higher, go watch them play, you will see who I mean. No relation or mate so it dosent matter to me, just think he can play a lot higher, ask the question, at the end of the game, he might say why.

There is a lot of good players in Div 2 / Div 1 who can play higher, most managers are only interested in what they know. Mick Vipond has taken a lot of the Levey team he had to the Berko, Aylesbury FC are last seasons Aylesbury Utd side to prove a point.

The league is in general a succession of the same old managers at different clubs failing with the same players.

The lad stood out thats all.

No not involved in any club, but have coached and managed in the league and higher, just enjoy watching games now. get around abit. Can see a player and the lad is one, saying that, watched Aylesbury recently and they have a very good right side mid, not one of the names but very good. Holmer Green have a right back young lad, he can play higher. The players are there depends if they get the chance or have the desire. Managers need to look, most just look as far as their last club

Just to set the record straight, the reason I am Managing at Aston Clinton is two fold. Firstly, I moved close the Club at the end of last season and wanted to get involved in a local club, not really worried about what division they are in at present as the set up and Chairman are more important to me. Secondly, I found the travelling to coach at Hitchin Town too much and for personal reasons wanted a club nearer to home.

My reasons for leaving Welwyn Garden City are well known and it is no coincidence that the Club appointed a new Chairman shortly after I left. It is a shame this happened too late for me. I left the Club on good terms and they understood my reasons.

I have managed and coached for 16 seasons and continue to enjoy developing players to their potential. I have my own style of management, which does not fall into the moronic, bullying and swearing category. If that makes me a "bad manager" in your opinion, so be it.

Football is all about opinions, but unless you know the facts of why a person takes certain actions you should not judge them negatively.

Anyway, I am enjoying my time at Aston, co managing, as many other managers do in all divisions, with Malcolm and we are doing just fine with our squad and our coach Gavin.

Enjoy your season.

Not any more just enjoy watching, know lots of players and coaches / managers at all levels, some good some bad. More intersted in players to be fair, seen far to many ruined by awful self centered managers who promise the world and deliver little, than leave only to pop up at another club daft enough to give them a job. The thing that frustrates me more than anything else is attitude "what a player can't do instead of what he can do" and working with that.

As for Aston, they will do well its a good set up.

Monkey..I wear no mask, even if i told you my name it would mean nothing to you.

I am a fan of football and know a lot of people in non-league. I watch and follow a local club to me have done for years and always will.I try to get around the grounds. I'll try and watch your team 1 day i hope as Coach1664 reckons that you have some players worth watching, but he seems to know the management team!

I think Berkhamsted could be the team to beat this season Rhodes, sounds like they have got a decent team. Not too unhappy with the draw, MK Wanderers are supposed to be stronger this season (well lets hope so as we don't want them pulling out again!) but I would still fancy our chances of going there and progressing.

Berko - Aston final then! lol

What you need is a neutral venue half way between the two.

Answers on a postcard please
