Bowers & Pitsea 0-4 Billericay Town

Recommended Posts

From a supporters point of view, I thought this was the more meaningful of our friedlies to date and gave quite a lot of food for thought. The difficult job is, which of the players does Brain pick for the coming season as, on last nights performance, there are quite a few who look hungry.

Not wishing to pick out players but once again, Dormer was superb. he has had an excellent pre season and looks dominating in the middle of the park. I thought Knight, Flackie and Baker worked well, especially in the first half. The defence certainly looked a little more solid and Walker proved that being in the right position is more than half the job of being a good keeper. Churlish, I know to name a few as there were some good performances from others on the park as well.

Fair enough, you have to look at who we were playing but I thought Bowers kept the tempo high and certainly made the game a challenge.

I fully appreciate pre season results mean little but a win and a clean sheet, can we ask for more (well, Ryan may ask for a few more goals but lets not be greedy). Things are taking shape but who would want to be in Brain's shoes.

One question I would ask from last night. Is Flackie claiming the second goal? From where I was standing, his shot was going across the goal until the defender obliged.

I thought Muir played well and Cousins looked far more effective at left back. Spencer Knight impressed as well. We seem to have genuine strength in depth at the moment and if we keep hold of what we've got, then IMO, we'll be right up there come the end of the season.

Yes sir you bet he did although not the most profident performance i've seen him put on imo.

Defence looked calmer last night and worked together well, good communication from Walker to his defence and vice versa.

Good to get a win and a clean sheet under our belts, but the only problem this may probe is that it has possibly made Brians decision even harder to pick who he wants and who has not made the cut.
