Chipstead friendly

Finished 4-0.

I'm assuming that as a few of our players signed on because we were playing in the Midlands league they weren't available because we were playing in the opposite direction?

Will be interesting to see what squad we had.

I am sorry but that is just plain silly. Why did we play it if we couldn't field a side? We would have been better off running those that were available around at the Polish club for at least they would have built up fitness.

Hope that the first XI is available Saturday so we get at least one decent match under our belts before the season starts.

No the score does not reflect the performance as in the first half we were by far the better side and should have been 2-0 up.

However there was a comedy goal through a back header that went in after it was pushed in by the keeper - however now finding out it was Jackman in goal answers why the mistake was made.

Second half Chipstead got going and once the second goal went in from a defencive lack of communication they started to build on their attacks.

Third goal took a massive deflection.

Edge got awarded a penalty and then went and missed the goal!

With five mins left we departed and thus missed the last goal.

The team looked fitter, stronger and more committed than what was put out last year, however it was one of those nights where we were never going to score regardless of the number of chances we made - which was substancial.

Dissapointed with the turnout of Slough fans as only counted around 10, and this was on a night when the weather was good and the traffic on the M25 was light!

Line up:

Jackman, Sweeney, Murphy, Avis, Edwards, Smith, Sealey, Romeo, Martin, Pringle, Edgeworth.

First two goals would have been prevented by a natural keeper, third was a deflection, fourth a thumping header from a corner.

Plenty of positives to take from the game as we played some good stuff, had a strong XI out on the pitch and were unlucky not to get on the scoresheet.

Horsham got some pics, I got some video and I'll get a report together tomorrow.

Could not make it tonight as had other things on. Did pop along to see Burnham down the road thoug. Probably more Rebels at Burnham tonight than at Chipstead, and what they saw they would have been impressed by. The Tuesday night game will defo be a high-tempo match due to the way Burnham play and we'll have to be at our best.

Byron Bubb came on as sub for Burnham and ex Royalist and everyone's favourite defender Dave Tilbury played right-back for the Blues, who contained several of last seasons SYCOB squad.

Ok soi know we are having issues with players missing and i can respect that, what I dont understand is we have had pringle and martin up front for 3 games now, two against lower level opposition and we have not scored a single goal.

Also have to say i agree with martin, pre season is about getting fitness so why play with half a team which does not boost morale when we could be getting their fitness up on the training ground.
