One more thing Mr Arkwright, have you recovered from the six yard area question?

A blinder!

What is the point of the centre circle and the D on the edge of the penalty area?

So why dont they have circles all over the pitch to keep away from a dead ball kick? There are only 3 places on the whole pitch where the distance isn't left up to the ref to work out.

Arkwright for your edification as you have asked twice.

From the Laws of the game.

The Goal Area

Two lines are drawn at right angles to the goal line, 5.5 m (6 yds) from the

inside of each goalpost. These lines extend into the fi eld of play for a distance of 5.5 m (6 yds) and are joined by a line drawn parallel with the goal line. The area bounded by these lines and the goal line is the goal area.
