I watched it last night and I can confirm that there were boys in blue wearing shirts that said 'Sleep Society'. I have to say they looked a bit camp!

As for a gay man presenting a children's television show, if you think about the ages of the kids who watch it, most of them won't be aware that he is a gay man (I mean that they are not aware of the stereotypical image of a gay person as yet-they learn that from parents and other adults). Therefore, what is the harm???

Hi Chubbster.

Some people assume that any gay man is psychologically driven to molest any male aged between 3 and 93.

Interestingly, and illogically, not all the same people assume that any heterosexual man is psychologically driven to molest any female aged between 3 and 93.

Very true, AFF, very true. For some reason people tend to assume that homosexuality and paedophillia go hand in hand, which is completley wrong.

However, I don't think that is the issue here. Some people (not me) think that having a gay bloke on a kids tv will 'corrupt' children. I don't know how this would be though. Either they believe that seeing a adult gay bloke will make children think that (God forbid!) being gay is 'cool' and ok or they think it will influence them to become gay themselves which is totally illogical.

Hmmm. I have mixed feelings on this one. I mean, Brian's behaviour on Big Brother (talking about 'anal', simulating 'oral' with other males) must surely make him highly inappropriate for Childrens TV.

AFF and Chubbhead are, of course, correct when they criticise suggestions of a correlation between homosexuality and paedophilia. And though I'm fairly sure that a higher number of paedophiles are homosexual than the national average, it is most insulting to suggest that being gay would make you more inclined to be a paedo.

As for 'gay' being portrayed as 'cool', well I'm pretty sure that is the case at times too. Your pinkos and liberalists will insist that there's nothing wrong with that, but I'm not convinced. I think it's wrong to 'encourage' it.

Unless, of course, they're sexy, buxom 18-year old girls!! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I agree that it's very convenient for homophobes to draw a parallel between homosexuality (which, for whatever reason, scares them) and paedophilia (which repulses everybody). The fact that there are so many gays in the media doesn't bother me as much as the fact that there are so many people on the television these days with no discernable talent.
