Football Man
Forgot to mention that I watched Histon reserves away to Leiston a couple of weeks ago. Histon's first team had no game that day so Hammond had been displaced onto the bench (I assume he is normally a regular starter in the stiffs?). He came on with 12 minutes to go with Histon 3-1 up and seemingly coasting it. They ended up clinging on for a 3-2 win and Hammond barely got a touch, let alone a shot. I think he would be better off playing regular first team footy back at Royston.
Rhodes
Forgot to mention that I watched Histon reserves away to Leiston a couple of weeks ago. Football Man - How many games is that for the season now, you're scraping the barrel a bit aren't you. As for your comments on Hammond, I think this was his first game back following serious injury and Histon were clearly just giving him a brief run out, the result is irrelevant in those circumstances in Reserve Team football

Leiston and Histon Res play in the Rigeons Eastern Counties - a very strong Step 5 league, and a higher level than Hammond was playing last season. Horace - Yes but Hammond is a Step 1 player now isn't he, he was just having a run out in the Reserves following injury Much as I admire Craig, I would only call him a Step 1 player when he's playing there. So far as I know he played less than 15 minutes as a sub and got injured. They are big, hard, boys in the Conference!
Rhodes
Horace - Histon wouldn't have paid Royston a tidy sum to join them if they didn't believe he could cut it at Conference level, once he is fully fit he will start scoring goals for fun, that's if the Club aren't forced to release him due to their current plight

Football Man
Just checked the Leiston match programme again. It states that Hammond was Histon Reserves top scorer at the time with 7 goals in 9 games. It would appear that my assumption of him being a regular in the stiffs is correct. Wader
They are big, hard, boys in the Conference! I've noticed a few look quite iffeminate. I recall one who had a rubbish fake tan topped up every month and another who plucked his eyebrows in the changing rooms after a match. Not to mention the modern day kit bag with a special pocket for hair straighteners. None of them have proper names nowadays either

Rhodes
The Non League Today Website appears to think that now Histon's so called star players Neil Andrews, Jamie Barker, John Kennedy and Craig Pope have all accepted severance packages as part of the Club's cost-cutting measure it will allow the home grown youngsters to blosom into regular first team players. Histon are only ten points away from a play off place and once Craig Hammond is fully fit and firing on all cylinders I can see them grabbing sixth, fifth or even fourth place come the end of April: http://www.nonleaguedaily.com/news/index.php?&newsmode=FULL&nid=63091
Rhodes
I see that Steve Fallon's position at Histon is amazingly still in limbo, that's what I call gratitude: http://www.nonleaguedaily.com/news/index.php?&newsmode=FULL&nid=63222
