Rhodes
I see Craig Hammond is all over the local Cambrideshire press like a rash following his amazing exploits on Monday evening at the Abbey Stadium: http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/cn_sport_histon/
yam yam
a snippet from a match report on TK forum....looks like CH has gone down the pecking order. There was a palpable sense of excitement in the crowd when Bradley Hudson-Odoi made an appearance in injury time. I was informed he is an under 21 international for Ghana and he certainly justified the enthusiastic response he received, twice almost adding to Histon
GAFFA1
you never no Royston Town could get him back on loan!

Keeps - What a pointless post, Craig Hammond was on the bench at Histon on Saturday against Salisbury City but never came on as they were winning comfortably. Hudson-Odoi was probably only brought on for the last minute to keep the crowd sweet but if he is so good why is he playing at Conference level and not in the Football League. Rhodes
Keeps - For your information Craig Hammond is still carrying a niggling injury from a pre-season Cambridgeshire Cup Final against Cambridge United, that's why he is being used as a substitute for the time being. Histon boss Steve Fallon probably put Bradley Hudson-Odoi on to keep him sweet just as much as the home fans, no doubt he has a temperamental streak like his Countryman Tony Yeboah who had that spat with George Graham if you recall. Football Man
Originally Posted By: Bemused looks like CH has gone down the pecking order. Bemused - CH has never really been up the pecking order! I understand it was the Chairman that wanted to sign him and not the manager, hence the fact he has only been a sub despite being fit for the last three Conference games. If CH gets himself to the required fitness (not easy given the jump from SSML1 and the lack of playing time he's had) and proves that his head and heart are in it more than on his previous stay at the club then he has a chance of making it. He needs to be careful that too may others don't overtake him in the pecking order in the meantime, though, or he might become a forgotten man. Oh Yikes, more rabid generalisation, when are the forum admin or bosses going to stamp out this rude & ignorant behaviour ?
Rhodes
Zante - What on earth are you talking about. Incidentally what has happened to my invitation to your restaurant or is it somewhere like The Ivy or Langhams Brasserie where you have to wait six months for a table. ref off ref
CH was only as good as the service he recieved from his team mates, of which I guess he'll be the first to appreciate. As for Royston they're a well run and well supported club, last season in Division 1 they got 822 for their game v Buckingham Athletic, not many teams at this level can boast that kind of record, most of us are lucky to get that amount for the entire season. Mind you helps when a club's got a bob or two, fair play to them, hope they reach the Football League!!

I beg to differ there, unlike a Clive Allen for example, Craig always got in amongst it and didn't wait for the ball to come to him, he regularly made his own chances and his own luck. He must already be sorely missed at Garden Walk.

bosman08
They seem to be doing very well indeed expected though as they were a cut above the Div 1 teams last year
krafty
He is missed as in as much as, watching him play. Not to be confused with missing him to help the team progress throughout the season. Royston have a very strong squad of young and some might say talented players. I did notice CH was at the Kentish Town Game giving his support. Rhodes
Krafty - I find that reply a little strange with hidden meaning to it, it appears that you are suggesting Craig Hammond didn't always pull his weight for Royston Town and he is not necessarily missed at Garden Walk where helping the team progress is concerned. Like I said earlier if he was a player in the Clive Allen mould for example, ie waiting in or around the penalty box for the ball to be played to him, I could understand it however he certainly isn't and always put himself about particularly being team Captain. Steve Tucker
I have another theory Cliff. Hammonds 'gift' was knowing where to be and how to finish. He didnt get involved outside the box too much, certainly not battling with centre halves. If the ball was played into the box he would drift to the far post losing his marker and therefore jumping with smaller full-backs. He also played on the shoulder of the last defender well making sure if anything went in behind he was on it. 'Mixing it' and working 40 yds from the penalty area doesn't get you the amount of goals he scored. He is a quality finisher and he does need service, but surely he will get that the higher he plays?
