Though not at both games due to other commitments I cannot see that either club can justify playing this fixture next season. The money made does not justify the possible loss of players, 35 days for a red (I believe under kent League rules) or 5 weeks out at the begining of the season.

BB, two legs of alehouse football is just not worth the risk as regard injuries/off-field nonsense.

The Gazette Cup should be a one-off game, the venue alternating between the clubs each season. I also think there should be a charity element, with a different charity chosen each year. I do believe the early matches raised money for various causes.

Of course Jim Ward wouldn't condone any 'bad' behaviour on the football pitch. Just ask Horsham at the back end of last year: down to nine men - wasn't one sent off for spitting at the opposition - and probably lucky to keep that many on the pitch.
