Really, really sad news. Bobby Robson was a link back to when professional football still had a semblance of dignity. I remember the 1990 World Cup, and Robson's reaction to the defeat in the penalty shoot-out against Germany.

 

Maybe Mourinho, Ferguson, Benitez, all the overpaid managers and footballers......and Lee Judges could learn something from him.

First met Sir Bobby in his FC Porto days and "a true gent" is a perfect description for him. A lovely man who always made time for everyone.

 

His training sessions weren't the best especially amongst foreign players as he didn't have the best language skills in the world that you need in today's game but he made himself understood and got the results.

 

I personally always felt that he would have been the perfect person to bring England success had he not contracted this awful illness that seems to indiscriminately affect the people we know.
