Roy Wren

Sad to hear that he has passed away. I remember the crowd in the 70s singing his 'praises' to the tune of the French national anthem.

Roy was a wonderfull man, just 2 weeks ago he sent me a messeage of good luck for the season. Billericay Town FC were always in his thoughts.

Roys son (Kevin) was at my school i seem to remember. Sad news indeed. As a young kid i remember Roy was (i think) groundsman at some stage too

I've heard he may also have been a goalkeeper at the Club.

 

I've got a programme from 1960 that lists a 'Wren' as 'Reserve'. He would have been 28 or so at that time, so that might have been him.

 

RIP Roy.

 

Edit: Maybe not. This prog also from 1960 show's a 'Wren' playing outfield.

Very sad news. Roy was a major contributor to our early successes.
