Urchins Players Into The Football League

Hi Hornchurcians,

 

Just working on a few programme bits for the new season, and I was wondering if there were any Hornchurch players that have moved directly or indirectly into the football league (without previously establishing themselves as a football league player)??

Wayne Purser went from us to Peterborough after the much publicised money problems a few years ago.

Nathan Elder, who played for Barn in the 2000/2001 season before moving to Hornchurch, Averley and then Billericay. He became the first ex Barn Sports's player to score a league goal when he scored on 05th May for Brighton away to Cheltenham.

Didn't Rob Lee start with the Chins?

Rob Lee played in a successful youth team before moving to Charlton. Nicky Bissett played for us for a few seasons before joining Brighton

And Kevin Marsden left to join Romford.. same thing really

No don't think he played in the first team as he joined Charlton at a young age. Was the Marsden transfer part exchange for Lee Murcott?

He he... Lee Murcott, whose missus did scrub up well, joined us from you in 1992 for one season before joining Leyton Pennant (I think).

Without checking records there has been (no pun intended) few players who have played for both our clubs..

Nicky Lowery, Steve King, the Cowleys, Barrie Fox, Marsden and Murcott... must be a few others...

To be honest I'm sure Lee Murcott was with us from you before that. I played alongside him mid 80's or so I thought.

We didn't start again until 1992 and he was one of the first brought in. Club captain. Left after one season believing he could crack it at Isthmian level again. I have an inkling that he ended up at Cheshunt before retiring..

Ok understand, just didn't know he was still playing for us in '92 that's all. By 92 I taken on board the requests of all my previous Hx managers and f**ked off to another team.

Jesse (Jessie ?) Roast played for Maidstone when they were in the Football League. Pretty sure he didn't move directly to them from us.
