No the club started it in the first season I saw them get relegated, when your team runs out to "Everybody Hurts" intentional all or not, I believe that to be an omen...

 

Like the bizarre award of a penalty at Canvey when Meatloaf's "Bat out of Hell" blurted out on the PA as if by magic.

That was pretty funny. I remember cheering when that happened and then seeing your guy putting the ball on the penalty spot. It was bizarre. I didn't even see the referee give the penalty!!

Our PA man though has cocked it up several times before.
He thought Lee Protheroe had scored against Billericay when the ball hit the side netting and announced it as a goal.
Then at half time at one match, one of our players played a joke on him by giving him the wrong half time scores.
It was only after he had read out the Arsenal score and somebody pointed out that Arsenal wern't even playing today that he realised that he been well and truly taken in!!

Think the best bit about that incident was the disorienting effect, that moment of, "where the f*** did Meatloaf come from??", then "we're doing badly enough without them putting us off", a truly comic moment.

 

I love musical interludes, I remember one club came down to the meadow with a stylophone and 3 fans accompanying it, it was far more entertaining than the football and that was comedy genius.
