Pretty poor from us. Mostly a reserve team, and if they have any ambitions of progressing to the first team they didn't show it.

Fowler

Keys S.West Cousins Charlery

Pond Shinn Muir

Frankis J.West Chatting

Dormer for Pond

Dumas for Charlery

Oh well...Neal,Dormer,Dumas,Cousin,Pond,Shin,Chatting,Frankis all played. They should have been strong enough to give a game to Burnham..4-1 sounds a good beating but hey is only a pre-season friendly and at least you know more about your players now.

Personally I thought Shin & Chatting played pretty well together. Nice long & controlled passing from both of them.

We could go on about the pitch and all that malarky but to be fair to Burnham Ramblers they came out to win, and did.

Shame Pond had to go off after what for me was an intentional take out by the oppo's.

Still the Cheesey chips were F@king Awesome and well worth to Mozzie bites.

So where is Brentwood again? (bring a brolly)

Performance was matched by the attendance....LOW (42 i think, 45 if you count 3 watching over the fence)

On the plus side...Flackie said he would be OK for Saturday v Billywood, and Walker was warming up with the other keepers before the match (maybe a return soon?)

Useless Fact; I got bitten more times than we had shots on target

Well, it was one of those games... It's pre season and not really a judge of what the team can do considering the mixture of first teamers and reserves (Under 18's) - altho, it was a chance for some of the young lads to make a stake for a position in the squad.

We picked up when Dorms came on and ended the game quite strong. For me, I'm quite concerned about our now bad habit of leaking goals. I know, it's pre season and teams play these games for many reasons, to trial players, get players fit etc. but I would like to see us get a bit stingy in defence. And that is the other reason why pre season "friendlies" are important...to iron out the problems.

Three games to go before the season starts, I'm sure our manager will be working the players hard to improve our defensive record before the season starts.

Whatever people think about this annual fixture, the cheesy chips were not a disapointment...And I thought the bottle of Piddle was quite nice.

...we even came away with a new word of encouragement....

.... "SHUFFLE".

I think that is a bit harsh to be honest. We had long spells of posession and at times played it about nicely, it was just in the final third that we just couldnt get the finishing touches in order to put the ball in the back of the net. I wouldnt say Burnham outplayed us or battered us. Just took there chances when they came and one was a great strike that no one could do anything about, another a great header from their midfielder, one was a keeper error also. So i wouldnt say these 3 have much to do with the ambition of the players. Some good spells, just were not clinical. Shinn was very good, spraying the ball about....

Even Westie up front said during the 1st half that Burnham were battering them

You did spray the ball about but never really hurt Burnham's back four and never really saw the whites of the keepers eyes

All in all a good work out for both teams - you now know that you're fringe players aren't up to Ryman prem level

Wasn't a battering? What game were you watching?

Phoned up Opta this morning and they confirmed the following stats:

Shots: Billericay 1 (1 goal), Burnham 46 (4 goals).

If the Burnham forward has his boots on the right feet it would have been 6 or 7.

PS reserve team????? at least 6 first team played.. at least. Nevermind though... you were strong towards the end (when you let in another 2 goals)....

Really?! At what point? In the second half I seem to remember every long cross field ball Shinn hit went over the right back's head, but then also over Chatting, the dug out, and half way to Bradwell Power Station.

Pitch is a bit of a joke. We are not happy about it either. Horses for courses. Im sure you will see a lot worse pitches in the Ryman Prem next season. Yours ain't much better come Xmas time!

Yes that was our intention. Take out Russell Pond. Well done. You caught us out.

Clowns.

P.S - Dormer was your only decent player last night. FACT.

As i was not there i will not argue but 46 shots ? wow ! that is 1 every 2 mins of the game if that is the case.

Friendlies like UM has already said are more for fitness and heart rates etc. Lets face it, did Orient look overly concerned they conceded 4 against us the other night with 8 of their first team playing. I would say no they did not.

However, imo friendlies do have value "if" you are a player trying to break into the first team, that is perhaps something Brian and Barry "may" have noted.

Anyway, Brentwood tomorrow. Shall we all go swimming first grin

No no no.... total playing time was 97mins and 30secs, so it was a shot every 2.12mins. Just for the record like.

Your right, friendly results don't count for nothing, but I would be worried if my team lost heavily to a team 2 leagues below, even if a couple of trialists were playing.

Yep, but do you not think orient should also have been very concerned that they could only beat us 5-4 ? And we are 4 steps below.

And, Spurs lost 3-1 to Aldershot with first teamers playing just for the record.

Guess we will have to agree to disagreee here smile

Meaningless game against a meaningless East Anglian League side. It is good to see 6 ex-youth players coming through the ranks tho. The side that started last night bears NO resemblance to the one that will start against Wealdstone. FACT.
