If the season started tomorrow.....

....who would your first XI be? Out of those we have seen on trial, and who have played in pre-season thus far, who would you start with away at Sutton on that first day?

 

Personally, I'd have

 

Mullin

Young Lewis Haverson / Wheatley

Lacy Robinson

Beech Wilson

Healy

Pratt Blackman

 

Although I'm not his biggest fan, I'd still go with Mullin in goal as I think he's the best we've seen so far. Still undecided over Haverson or Wheatley - both class defenders but, of course, we're yet to see Wheats in pre-season so far. Young has come on leaps and bounds over the past few seasons. Lewis can provide that experienced head in an otherwise young defence. Both wing-backs have cemented their places as first-choice IMO. Beech looks solid to me, so if we could get hold of him permanently, I'd have him in the team, and he could provide the cover to allow Wilson to get forward more. And I think Healy, Pratt and Blackman could work well together as a front three.

 

All in all, I think that team could give Sutton a good game, and I'd like to think we could at least snatch a point.

Dont think you will be too far of our starting line up Mike, unless somebody comes through in the rest of the frendlies.

 

Sammy Cliff certainly deserves a place on the bench.

Ahh I forgot about Morris, IMO a certainty to start.

Oh of course, I forgot about Keiron. He certainly has improved noticably recently. I would love to crowbar him into that first XI somehow. Hmmmmm..... Well, it's a good headache for a manager to have I guess!

If anywhere I guess he could take the place of Beech and Lewis can play in midfield as he did against Grays.

No doubt you are right Joseba but i cannot see reference to it on the FA suspended players list

 

Was that for an accumulation of yellows-or was he sent off after the March 'amnesty' ?

For me- 14th/15th which would be just fine with me.

 

Another 3 weeks to go though to 'acquire players (and hopefully not lose any either ) and see things very differently by 15th August

Not too sure about Morris at the back but haven't seen enough of Wheatley yet to comment.

Also thought Lewis would serve us better just in front of the backs so protecting them but also able to break things up in the middle and allow Wilson and Beech that little more freedom.

As Joseba says Young is out for first 3 games, due to something said to ref at Canvey game, who reported him after game. Not sure if he is appealing against it or not?
