A central defender was at margate this morning as part of the press day for the Playing for success Scheme summer school.

For those who do not know, Margate learning zone won the funding for this scheme, the first of its type, against strong competition from other fc clubs and county cricket. The guys at MLZ beat off Man city and Newcastle utd for the honour of being the 1st centre. The scheme and the blue print from this summer will be rolled out nation wide from next summer.

Sky news, national press and 2-4-2 magazine were at Hartsdown park this morning.

PS. Well done to the youngsters from Salmestone school who's behaviour should make their parents,School and lastly themselves very proud. Well done Kids.

PPS, the defender was Martin Keown.

A full news story will be available on www.margate-fc.com over the next day or so - it's currently being compiled. This is really top stuff at the club!

No, no live commentary until our first league game. Listening numbers for friendlies don't justify doing it unless it's something extra special.

They showed a clip with Neville Southall and Martin Keown, mentioning both the football club and margate learning zone.
