Harlow Town have appointed Jeff Wood as 1st Team Coach under John Kendall. Jeff will also be taking up the position of Schools Liason Officer and will be heavily involved in the new Football in the Community programme which is being launched this season. Formally the Manager of Brighton, Jeff has spent the last 12 months managing Sliema Wanderers in Malta. He took them to 3rd in the League, gaining qualification to the UEFA Cup, and lost out to Hibernians in the Maltese Cup Final. He also has a UEFA Grade A coaching badge which will be invaluble in the season ahead

Is that Jeff Wood the ex-Charlton goalkeeper of many years ago?

 

Or the Jeff Wood who spent many years touring the non-League scene as a centre forward?

The JEff Wood who joined us is the same one who played in goal for us before moving to Charlton in the 80's, managed at Brighton and coached at Leyton Orient amongst others.

 

The other Jeff Wood is Harlow's record goalscorer, spent a few years at Ford United and played for Leyton last year in the Essex Senior League.

So it's the Jeff Wood who played in a friendly for Enfield (lost 7-0) against a Tottenham Hotspur first X. (There were eleven on the pitch but Mario Kempes did b*gger all). I can't remember if Wood's trial ended there or whether he saw out the friendlies, but we were all relieved when he pi$$ed off to Exeter. Particularly when the FA Cup drew Exeter v Enfield.

 

Jeff Wood now denies ever having played for Enfield, which I suppose is true in one sense.
