Hatlow Town in financial trouble

Recommended Posts

Obviously I don't know the ins and outs but the new ground is probably a big factor in the debt.

We were due to move in in July 2006 but due to a problem with an access road, we didn't actually move in until Oct 2006. In the run up to the move, all of our social side had been run down and our social club closed. It was an expensive delay from what I remember.

Whilst it's nice having the new place, as an example of how much it costs to run, for every game or training session the floodlights are used, it costs hundreds and hundreds (due to the fact they're league quality lights). Even the heating costs of a new stand like that are huge (although visiting players won't moan about the fact there's always hot water!)

Obviously some errors have been made along the way and hopefully our current board and/or any new investor can get it sorted. I find it strange that nobody has come in to take a punt on us yet with the potential we have, yet the likes of Grays, Braintree, Histon etc etc have attracted big investment over the years.

Pay the tax before paying the players that you can't afford should be the way to run a club.

Well Harlow Town spanked St Albans City 4 - 2 tonight with a comfortable win. Could have been 5 - 0 but for the post and easing off the gas.

It was just like watching Argentina!

Ricci Crace got the first with a trademark run in on defence. 1 - 0.

Dave Blower and Jon Stephenson in defence.

Peter Hammatt on the touch line!
