Bring back Steve Browne

I know I will get stick for this posting but it needs to be said.

Steve Browne has attracted a lot of critisism from many people and some of it was justified, but why get rid of a manager who gets a team to fourth position in a league of 24 teams, and it was almost third place.

He has bought quality players in, Boot, Hodges etc. and has the team in a position highly likely to go up next season, no matter which league its in, north or south.

It must also be said that he has continued to develop the team despite the interference of Martin Deaner and having to include that donkey of a son of his Andrew, in the team.

Considering the lack of money he has had compared to Hornchurch, Slough were only two places behind them at the end of the season.

This is not a bad record at all, and I belive he should be manager of Slough Town for the next season.

Hahahahahahaaaaaaa....

Nice post 'Steve'...

No mention of his lack of discipline, timekeeping, lack of tactical knowledge then?

He's brought in players which any other manager would have been capable of signing given the reputation of the club and the attendances we have.

No mention of the relegation with one of the highest budgets in the Premier?

No mention of us having one of the highest budgets in the division yet failing to secure promotion?

No mention of the tantrums?

No mention of the lack of respect from the players? Let's see how many follow him when he changes jobs and how well he does in his new job....

If he comes back to manage Slough, there WILL be a campaign to remove him.

I'll happily lead that campaign.

I assume you would be similarly supportive of, for example, Alex Ferguson if he managed to finish fourth in the first division?

No I'm not comparing Slough to Manchester United but taking into context the players he had and the money he spent, last season can be counted as nothing but a complete failure.

It's easy to bring in good players if you pay them what we did. What's more difficult is getting them to perform which he failed to do on countless occasions.

Simon Patterson was from Watford. Chris Allen (failure), losing Steve Stott, allowing Ricky Browne to continue playing even though he was crap, continuing bust ups with various members of the squad and supporters, not getting a fee for Asamoah, not wanting to sign and players from Slough...

The list goes on and on...

I will own up to being "Mr Anon"

I thought I would cause some discussion as I had noticed the forum had got a bit quite recently, and it is good to see that Gary still has a soft spot for Browne

Lets hope we have seen the back of Browne, and if he does have the front to come back there is still pleanty of hatred for him.

Browne RIP

Its really strange how all of you who call yourselves supporters slag off Steve but as a supporter I have witnessed at first hand where so called loyal members of staff eg the Secretary have abused Steve and then dont have the courage to admit that when confronted....I for one will support Slough whereever they go next year but it should be remembered that a Manager can only be as good as the support he gets from his team and his staff...lets see if the new manager is as willing or as able to bring as many talented players to the club next year and put up with all the crap as well . i for one am not a Steve Browne supporter but feel he deserved better based on the circumstances he had to put up with at the club.

I think that the divide between Browne and the fans has got so large that there is, hopefully, no chance of that happening. Anyone who brought him back couldn't possibly have the best interest of the club in mind. Browne detests most of the fans, and the feeling is mutual. Whatever the rights and wrongs of the situation, his return would be 2 steps backwards.

So it's ok for Browne to accuse the "eg secretary" then of not being able to do his job properly behind his back? Talk badly of the players behind their backs?

Steve could have quite easily won the respect of the fans by doing the right things well, doing his job properly, and cutting out the ego and the attitude.

If the circumstances were that bad, why didn't he leave? Simple question, no answer.

Would be good to hear your thoughts on the above Anon.

When STST is set up and running the club, will that board then be in a position to ensure Browne does not return, and a manager who is both competant and committed be appointed.

After the reception he got at Berko, you might think he might of got the message - dont come back Browne!!!!!!
