MK DONS are doing well in promoting their club with families and the local community in mind, you cant live in the past forever, the thing is even when wimbledon were playing their last season at palace many so called wimbledon fans werent going, they were getting attendances of just over 2,000.

Also there must have been some wimbledon fans who continued to support the club even when they moved to MK,that was their choice other dons fans made their choice and decided to form a new club and although they didnt start at the bottom of the pyramid gained a new lease of life.Cant really see you need to harbour a grudge for all eternity.

Really looking forward to the game and welcome MK to stag meadow,

How much was it again ?

For the sake of accuracy, I can't let that pass without comment.

on 28/05/02, the FA commission decided to allow the move with no right of appeal. So that was that. The intention was to move to MK by December. So, you expected us to carry on funding them before waving a tearful goodbye as they disappeared up the M1 for Christmas? Due to general incompetence of all involved in the project, they didn't move for 18 months. You didn't mention that the residents of MK (desperate for League football remember) failed to make the trip to Selhurst Park to support their new team. Too arduous a trip I should think.

Nice barb about not starting at the bottom of the pyramid, although maybe not a topic of conversation I would recommend bringing up with your visitors tomorrow.

MK had a club in the Spartan South Midlands. They could have been promoted in the community. Winkleman could have thrown money at them. They are no longer in existance.

You are in favour of franchising football and i'm against. Fair enough.

Anyway thanks for the debate, it's been interesting if not a little depressing. Just one thing I would add though. You must hope your club never gets in any bother because that is when you find out that no-one gives a sh1t.

Welcome to football today....

I didnt say i was in favour of franchising just that **** happens sometimes, its up to the individual if they want to go around with a chip on their shoulder. And to be honest i have come across many non-league fans who find afcw fans a tad arrogant. the real test will be if afcw stitch up kingstonian in their quest to get back to merton and the football league, time will tell.

I don't suppose you're one of these people who vote BNP and then tell anyone who'll listen 'but I ain't racist!' are you? wink

Totally irrelevant to the argument if AFCW fans are arrogant or if MK fans are salt of the earth or vice versa. You'll have to talk me through the Kingstonian scenario, as i'm not quite with you.

You don't seem too keen on us nasty Wimbledon fans one way and another - just as well it's not us you're playing tomorrow or you might have had to boycott! laugh

How much was it to get in again? bolt

I came on the Windsor and Eton thread to discuss the match with fans of Windsor and Eton. Rather a shame that it has been hijacked.

I am not going to engage in arguments with AFC fans but I am going to point out that TRS is quite right. MK City did have a team in the Southern League and it was very well supported with gates of up to 2000.

However he forgets to tell you that it was in fact bought by Ron Noades of Wimbledon FC in 1979 and the board of WFC were made the directors (including Hamman). It folded when they abandoned it and went to Palace. Its documented in one of the WFC year books as well. So perhaps its not the best argument for TRS to use.

I'm going to say the club house for a pint or go to the Stag and Hounds (facing the ground) it used to be a good football pub but I'm not to keen on the latest landlord...

As for the pies... Being a northerner who earns his crust in the south I would say you can't get a decent pie down south... Pukka Pies are [****!!****]! It's Hollands Pies all the way.

Looking forward to the game today, hope the MK fans are too with coach loads...

As for TRS I hope you might make the trip and watch a fellow non-league club have a decent pre season!

Noades was apparently keen on a move to MK 30 years ago, i believe that is true - you'll have to raise it with him regarding them going bust. As you well know, I was referring to the Spartan South Midlands club that was in existance in 2002 and folded soon after the franchise green light. Winkleman could have done a Rushden & Diamonds with them if he could have been bothered. A very enlightening link by the way.

Woody... There is a Chippy facing the old fire station (Windsor Arts Centre) that is run by a chap from the midlands. He does lots more normal/northern chippy food!

Random fact... it was in the chippy that I first saw a poster for Windsor and Eton FC then looked them up on t'internet before coming down for the QPR game last season!
