Billericay Town 4-5 Leyton Orient

I really enjoyed this game. Full of goals and full of football. There were some excellent displays by players last night and aside from some tweeks in the defensive side i think we can be reasonably optomistic.

What a joy it was not seeing the long hopeful ball over the top if the keeper rolled it out.

Overall i was impressed by the football played and i think Brian and Barry have worked well on that front.

A very enjoyable game.Well Done Brian & Barry.Good performances from pretty much all players showing movement/touch/fitness levels improved. A breath of fresh air in not relying on constant long balls (as mentioned already). Dumas/Wareham worked well, Shinn moved ball around, Dormer covered a lot of ground, Bricknell looked sharp after back problems end of last season, No.7 Muir looked useful, Cousins solid (hopefully wont come up against many players like Patulea every week in Ryman Prem.)

Finally best wishes go to Mick Nixon on a speedy recovery

A very enjoyable game and both Orient sides had a good number of 1st team players involved so fair play to our boys for scoring 4 goals against a strong side. We were always going to leak goals against a League side who will play the ball around very well but another thing that didnt help was the defence being changed round 4 times during the 90 mins but thats what pre season friendlies are all about, more about fitness in the 1st few then getting the team to gel in the final few.

Good crowd also and seemed to be a better atmosphere around the place last night which was good.

Onwards and Upwards.

A fantastic game of football and if we can play like that for most of the season and keep injury free then who knows what might happen. I was impressed with most performances, but not the reserve keeper. We had the pace, the passion and variety up front. Enough O's fans, but no noise from them.

Excellent game tonight, so pleasing to see us passing the ball again. No one had a bad game, was really impressed with Shinn in the middle and Billy upfront looked refreshed and back to his scoring best.

All the trialists looked good, can anyone confirm if the right back was Greg Oates ex Chelmo and Arsenal?

The best six quids worth of entertainment I've had for a long time and very pleased with our performance. It was great to see the new blues short passing their way out of trouble with no panic. Shame about the mistake that led to an easy goal for Orient but I'm sure the understanding between players will improve when they've played a few more games together.

A great evenings football. More of the same please.

A enjoyable game topped by a corking goal, the last of his hat trick, by Billy Bricknell. Fair enough, we didn't win but we performed very well considering who our opponents were.

It's nice to see the style of football that was played last night, and it proved that we can have good passing football at our level but I think Brian is very tactically astute to change it if and when the situation demands.

For myself, pre season isn't just about the winning (altho, it is nice). I have seen a few succesful pre season "campaigns" in the past only to watch us capitualte when the real business of league action starts (I've also seen some pretty dire pre seasons and then watched us do the opposite and do well). Enjoyable, encouraging and heartening though last night was, the real business has yet to come.

As said above, really enjoyed the game and if that is a taster of things to come, it looks like being fun.

Varying degrees of player fitness and a bit of "after you" defensively at times but that is what pre-season is all about sorting out. Obviously Billy stands out for his goals - the striking positions will be competitive this season and that's a pretty good marker to get in - I was also impressed with Mick Shinn who I thought ran the show for us particularly first half.

My one real concern was that I didn't see us win much aerially at the back and with a lot of lump it football in the Ryman League that could be an issue. Mind you if we are able to deal with the second ball effectively it doesn't really matter.

Once again a really encouraging start to pre-season, looking forward to more of that entertainment!!

After "waxing lyrical" about the approach of our first friendly I ended up missing it, which from what I've read above is a great shame. Certainly looking forward to Saturday & Stortford now. That seems an excellent attendance for a Tuesday night in July. Let's hope it's another bumper turnout this weekend.

What a great start to the new season, if entertainment like that doesn't bring the the supporters back then I don't know what will.

Now looking forward to Saturday and more of the same.
