BING BANG BONG

I know its the off season and things are a little slow so I thought I'd let you know how I went at Bing Bang Bong today...it is the School Vacation(another one) and I am a little bored.

I also appreciate what great golf fans you are.

Bing Bang Bong..one of the best golf games ever,.

Strictly using golf etiquette..furthest from the hole plays first..even on the greens:

First On The Green=BING

Closest to the Hole when last player reaches the green=BANG

First to Putt Out=BONG

Get a BING=1 point..BANG=1 BONG=1 get all 3 on same hole is double points=6 Points.

Today:

BRYAN 6 Bings, 8 Bangs, 8 Bongs = 22 Points

DAVE 8 Bings, 4 Bangs, 4 Bongs = 16 points

MICK 4 Bings, 6 Bangs, 6 Bongs = 16 points.

Losers pay the WINNER at $1 a point....BRYAN wins $12.

No BING-BANG-BONGS (6 pointers) today.

Another variation is BOOM-BING-BANG-BONG where the BOOM goes to the longest drive on each hole that stays on the Fairway.

Don't fret...I'll keep you posted on next Monday's BING,BANG,BONG results.

Next week: BING, BANG, BONG Tactics including the intricacies involved in Bing Lagging and the skills to work on in with Bang Lagging.

PS:Our Harness Horse..Too Precious..won her Trial in good style last Monday night and goes around again in a trial in about 45 minutes..first official race start next week.

I dont think there was chronic stalling. Its just that you are a whinging choking Aussie as is Ponting.

As Mike Selvey says in the Guardian

"With 40 minutes of the match remaining, a minimum of 69 balls and England still 6 runs short of making Australia bat again with Panesar (Test batting average 5.5)the game looked up. Instead with surprisingly FEW alarms, a couple of thumping blows, some solid wood behind the ball and high-decibel support from another packed ground, the pair eked out the overs."

First On The Green = BING

Closest to the Hole when last player reaches the green = BANG

First to Putt Out = BONG...

Hey Wagga, hope your well, now this Bing, Bang, Bong thing

I get the Bing bit, but then i get a bit confused, try this scenario

Rock Steady hits the green from the tee & lands about 20 feet from the hole, I hit the green with my second shot & end up 18 feet from the hole, while The Hat takes his usual 7 shots to reach the green (evil) & ends up 3 inches from the hole.

So Rock Steady gets a Bing = 1 point.

The Hat ends up closest to hole = Bang 1 point & putts out = Bong 1 point.

So Rock Steady & I get a solid par 4 while The Hat gets his usual 8 ( evil) and the scores are

The Hat = 2 points

Rock Steady = 1 point

Gazza = 0 points

The Hat will win at a canter by a Yorkshire mile!

Remember the game that went into the last over in the 2005 ashes.Where the Aussies had to suvive the last half hour to get a draw?? Guess what Ricky Pontin did to slow things down?? Thats right, sent the 12th man on the pitch to give Glenn McGrath some new gloves and a jumper.

G'day Gazza...all is well...on School Holidays (respite)...and am looking forward to Melbourne trip in a couple of weeks with 8 mates to 2 grudge AFL games at MCG...golf at Howlong...lunches at the best pub in Melbourne (the Royal..Punt Rd) where the barmaids are not shy at all insisting that no clothes at all is the dress de jour....then off to Motor Bike racing at Winton...HUGE weekend.

So........

RS hit the green from the Tee on a Par 4?
Okay ...if you insist.
So RS was first on the green...rewarded for his accuracy from the longest distance out=BING (1point)
Yep The HAT may have taken 7 shots but he is rewarded for getting the ball closest to the hole from off the green...a facet of the game that keeps all players despite their ability in the game..the beauty of BBB..so The Hat gets the BANG (1 point).
Because The hat is only 3 inches from the hole..as is the case with normal golf rules...he will putt last.
So RS is on the green but furthest from the hole so he putts first...if he sinks it he is rewarded for sinking the longest putt =BONG.
If he putts 5 foot short then its your turn...you are (at this stage) furthest from the hole.
You sink it...you get the BONG.
And so the putting goes until the first one of you to sink the putt (according to golf etiquette) gets the BONG.
In your scenario above You and RS would have to have putted to inside 3 inches of the hole without sinking the ball giving The Hat the chance to sink the BONG putt from 3 inches...highly unlikely...but as we know anything can and usually does in golf.

The secret to understanding how it works is to strictly stick to the 'furthest from the hole' rule of golf.
There is no 'Putting Out'...that is, two putts in a row..unless the first putt is still further from the hole than the balls of the putter's opponents.

Once you've played it a couple of times you will see how certain situations arise that are conducive to possible BINGs, BANGs, BONGs or the ultimate double scoring BING, BANG, BONG (6 points)*.
The beauty of the game is that players of all abilities can score well and a match is rarely decided until the last or last couple of holes.
Play it a couple of times and you'll see what I mean.

*The BINGER hitting it onto the green to around 6 feet from the hole...his mates getting their first shots on to the green beyond the BINGER's 6 foot...so now he has BING and BANG...they miss their putts...he sinks his...he gets BING,BANG, BONG.
Great game...we play it and FERRET as our two main 'side games' and the novelty has never worn off.

I like Nick Dougherty for the British Open.....pick him every year and he never fails to disappoint.

Our horse brained them at the Trials last night and appears to be an outstanding prospect...exciting times...her first race will probably be Friday week...yes...same time as Melbourne trip...been waiting 6 months for her firat start nad we won't be here...but it will be on TV...TAB meeting so the $$$$ will be on.

PS..the only Sport I really struggle to like is Cricket...so take anything I say about the Ashes with a grain of salt...as no doubt is the case with all of mt posts.

Not to mention bowlers who couldn't get Panesar out. 35 balls should have been enough to get him at least three times.

Ponting used similar tactics during one of the 2005 tests when Brett Lee was hanging on for dear life!!!!!

Andy...keep on bingin'...and remember that for most of us its the only bangin' we get...but if you've done to much bongin' as a lad then remembering won't be your long suit.

I'm thinking about a possible BBB Test On Line with 3 of us v 3 of you (or 4's...it doesn't matter).

You nominate a course and we will do our best to match the 9 holes you play with 9 holes at the Wagga Wagga Country Club.

You log your progress via Laptop..we log ours...GAME ON!

Of course there is the time difference to consider.

Should the time issue become to big to solve then you guys log each shot and we will do the same and play it out on the forum.

Yes...it is still School Holidays and yes I do have too much time on my hands (as long as I avoid all home maintenance imperatives).

Message for Wagga

It is bad enough that the germans are trying to muscle into our world cup bid for 2018 but what is this I hear about the wild colonial boys launching a bid!!

Hardly fair to the mother country is it?

Besides the antipodeans (in the broadest sense of the word) are getting the tournament this year. To get it twice within 8 years seems to me to be greedy.

A timely comment given that our domestic season (A-League) starts next weekend with 2 new additional sides...one of them fielding Robbie Fowler.
Australian soccer....the elephant's graveyard of football.
Although I do expect that he's still got plenty to offer.
As far as the 2022 World Cup bid is concerned...I don't think they even think they are in the hunt for 2018...it is a Bread and Circuses situation with a lot of the push being from politicians doing anything they can to get the Global Financial Crisis off the front pages.

NOW FOR THE REAL NEWS:
My Harness Racing 2 year old filly, TOO PRECIOUS (a gay name I know but she was already named...I would've opted for KILLD'UVVERS) ran 3rd at her first start behind two really good horses and this was after being trapped three back along the rails as they entered the home straight. She should win with a more aggressive drive at her second start.
