Club Statement

We have had a busy time over the last couple of weeks, but the process to identify a new management team has now been completed and we are delighted to have Steve Newing and Del Deanus on board. I know that you will all welcome them to the club and all supporters will get behind them for the coming season.

Steve and Del were the unanimous choice of the board and have good experience in the league and we believe they will bring a big improvement to the side. We have made no secret that we are looking for promotion and Steve and Del have ambitions that match those of the club. We believe that we have an exciting season ahead of us, and with your full support we hope to get that promotion we have been looking for.

There was a lot of interest in the manager's job, and some very strong candidates applied. We want to thank all those who expressed interest in the position and thank them and the supporters for their patience while a decision was being made. We believe we now have the right team in place. Steve and Del will be talking to the existing squad soon and assessing things with a view to strengthening where necessary.

We became aware that George Borg was available for a coaching role to fit in with his other current commitments. He was keen to help out in a coaching capacity and we know his experience will be a great boost to the club.

We will arrange a supporters evening down at Brimsdown to introduce the new management team to you all as soon as possible. Once a date has been set I will let you know.

For those of you looking to plan your pre season, we should be making some announcements on friendlies soon. Some games have already been announced and we have several currently being finalised. We will make an announcement when they are confirmed. A number of options were being considered, but they will now be agreed with the new managers.

Chairman

There IS a Society meeting coming up, again for some reason in the school holidays, just like the AGM, always in the school holidays. WHY?

So we only sponsor balls? no perimeter or match sponsors required, just a load of balls............... nothing changes then

muck stirring old tart...nothing changes then

Perhaps it has something to do with the people who give up their time for no reward finding it a more convenient time or even the A in AGM standing for ANNUAL rather than ANYTIME?

yes.
so if we were trying to be a community club, why have meetings when over 50% of the population are on holiday?

I have never understood that. The AGM could be moved a week either way, in fact moving in back a week or two would give the board time to circulate information BEFORE the meeting, novel I know............

Well here we are July has arrived and the new season is just round the corner. Preparations are now well under way and with training begun we will all be keen to see the squad for the coming season. A large number of last seasons players have reported back for the pre season preparations and the squad can only be stronger with the addition of a number of players well known to the new management team. Steve and Del have worked together for a number of years now and one of the things they have a reputation for is preparation and fitness in their teams. I am confident that we will hit the ground running this season and make a strong start. Getting a settled side early on can only help our chances of putting a good cup run together and we would all love that.

We have now put together a full list of friendlies and most of our later games are against a decent level of opponent, essential to allow the management team to test new players and get the right mix for a settled squad this year. Friendly arrangements were delayed due to the process of appointing new managers, and I think we have done well to put together the games we have. We wanted to ensure the manager was fully involved in any arrangements as they need to have as much assistance in preparing for the season as possible. It has also been very disappointing not to get any league opposition this year for a friendly. It has certainly not been for lack of trying and we will continue to press clubs at every opportunity. However it is a fact of life that every non league team wants a big name side to bring in the crowds and not everyone ends up a winner. It is something we will be working even harder for next season, to get the best possible build up towards the opening of our new stadium.

The summer maintenance work on the pitch has now been carried out and Frank Cartwright has organised the necessary improvements to get things up to scratch for next season. The rest is now down to Mother Nature and the right amount of sun and rain and the current weather can only help. There is always room for improvement at the ground though and still much work to be done. Anyone who can help should contact Frank or turn up on a Sunday Morning to join in with the work parties.

Don't forget our members meeting on 23rd July when there will be the opportunity to put questions to the Board and Steve Newing will also be there to discuss his plans for the season.

I am sure you will all give the new managers and players your full support and I am sure we will be repaid with a good season.

Now tell me nobody reads this forum, well done to the chairman for the info, more of it please.
