Dunstable Town Make Over

Recommended Posts

Hi Scottie, what is the situation with the Beds Premier Cup, first I heard it was Dunstable vs Luton at Creasey Park, then it was going to be at Biggleswade Town and now the local paper says its Biggleswade Town vs Luton Town at the Carslberg Stadium.

It would have been under normal circumstances, but I think the Beds FA had other ideas. They have given their official excuse as our ground isn't up to scratch, but it appeared to be OK to play in the FA Cup, FA Trophy and the Southern League last season.

I suspect that the old boys club fancied a trip to the Carlsberg Stadium or it was a poor attempt to bow down to Mick Harford.

Either way it has made our relationship with the County FA rather strained!!

That's very strange, surely if you can compete in the Beds Senior Cup then your ground should be by default good enough for the Beds Premier Cup Final. Even if the match isn't played at Dunstable then why can't Dunstable play Luton in the final at Biggleswade Town? After all the final between the two clubs a couple of seasons ago was played at Arlesey Town.

I'm not sure why Mick Harford would be overly bothered about who the opposition where but I know the Beds FA do rate the Bigg T ground highly (presumably even higher than the Arlesey ground which was there ground of choice previously).

Either way for Dunstable Town not to be in the Beds Premier Cup Final is a poor show from the Beds FA, that is meant to be one of the perks for winning the Senior Cup, and I can't see any reason why you shouldn't be allowed to compete in it.

Couldn't agree more. Hopefully the 61 FC secretary, who also sits on the Beds FA Board of Directors, could shed some more light on the decision.

Peter Brown has been quoted as saying that they couldn't ask a club to host it and not play in it, as they did with Arlesey Town, so it does stink a little.

I see that Dunstable Town will soon be opening a brand new Community Football Centre at Creasey Park in partnership with Central Bedfordshire Council and the Football Foundation. The innovative Centre will serve the whole of Dunstable and surrounding areas and, in addition to the main hallowed Creasey Park turf, will comprise of a state of the art 3G full size synthetic pitch, six smaller synthetic pitches for mini through to adult football, six luxurious changing rooms and a wide range of Community facilities including a BMX cycling track:
