The League's ex-Secetary, Fred Hawthorne, is man enough to stand up and take his fair share of the blame. With hindsight, he realises that forcing through the change from East-West divisions to Prem & Div 1 started the collapse of the League. His plan was to make the fixtures more competitive, but the clubs felt there was too much travelling for reserve team level and almost all the Hertfordshire clubs were soon gone.

The Capital League relaxing the standard of clubs it was prepared to accept has also made it easier for former E&H clubs to play their reserve fixtures midweek which gives the double bonus of having a bigger pool of players to select from for the first team on a Saturday and bringing in income from a potential groundshare.

The continuing doubts over the status of the E&H as a supply league for referees (determining whether or not clubs get three officials or have to provide club linos) hasn't helped either.

There were rumours hanging around our club for a while aswell about possibly pulling the reserve team even though they provided 14 players to the first team this year.

No FM, the point is that Richard said that Bowers were the only ESL club to enter a reserve team in the E&H, Bemused and myself were pointing out that Barking are also an ESL club.
