FA Cup draw

In our current financial state it is more important than ever this year that we get a good cup run. God knows that we must be due a decent run after the disapointing last two seasons. The FA Cup prize fund is not available for this season yet, but there has been a large increase on last years fund. In prize money alone if we reached the 4th qualifying round of the FA Cup that would have paid off a substantial proportion of the debt. Any money made in the cups should be clear profit for the club, as they should not be budgeting for cup money as there is no guarantee who they will play or where. The only problem is time and whether we can survive until then and of couse the small matter of winning the matches. For a start, a Home tie against Sutton should pull in at least 500 and if we could win I would guess that would be about

Well basicaly, don't forget for cup games the competition owner takes a slice of the gate money - in this case the FA, the opponents get a slice in essence to cover costs and the home club gets whats left. So home draws are not necessarily all they're cracked up to be. Having said that, a good run in the FA Cup and Trophy against well supported opposition would certainly help although the money won isn't paid until you're knocked out.

If I'm not mistaken, unlike in the past, the FA do not take anything until the first round proper nowadays, and so both clubs get 50-50. What I was getting at earlier is that Sutton could be a good crowd puller and although not believing that it would pay off our debts in one go, if we got a reasonable crowd it would help greatly. In the past few years we have drawn more junior clubs away from home with little support meaning less revenue. In the whole scheme of things
