Tonight is the scrutiny committee, and they can make recommendations only. It is still important however as it will show whether all councillors back the idea, or if there is likely to be organised opposition within the council.

The more important meeting will be the Cabinet meeting on Monday, as it is the Cabinet that have the power to agree the proposals.

Went to the Scutiny Meeting this Evening their was only Roger and my self in attendence.

Any way on the bright side a recommendation was passed for the club to move onto the next stage which I believe is the Fall Council Meeting to agree on the proposed residential development and Community Football Stadium.

Steve Easterbrook outlined the new plans for the development and then their was a question and answer session before a vote.

I thought the main point put forward in our favour was the building on Green Belt problem, it was noted by Steve and Mr Swindlehurst that other clubs that have gone on to build stadia on Green Belt with similar plans were turned down by their local Councils only for Goverment to over turn the decision in the interests of the local Community for social health and fitness reasons.

Appendix 3A shows an 11mx8m bar/restaurant on the ground floor, just to the right of the main entrance. I assume that would probably be it.

Obviously need to remember that if the ground is given the go ahead there is likely to still be potential changes to the finished article.

The Cabinet will receive the following comments from the Scrutiny Committee.

"The Committee received a presentation from Officers and from the Chairman of Slough Town Football Club outlining the proposed development on the former Arbour Vale School site. Members were generally supportive of the proposals and the desire to bring the Football Club back within the boundaries of the town.

However, there were some concerns at the potential loss of the West Wing arts facility, particularly given that the performance indicator relating to engagement in the arts by the Slough population is, at 37.4%, well below the national average of 45.2%. The Committee feared that the loss of the West Wing would further reduce the opportunities for Slough residents to participate in the arts."

As far as I'm aware there is no 'potential loss' of the West Wing because the ball is in the councils court as to whether the new stadium development contains the West Wing or not.

I might be wrong but arn't the council currently looking to re-house the West Wing at an alternative site?.

I think this is an unfortunate mis-use of terminology and once explained in plain English to the cabinet that there is a CHOICE then there will not be any concerns.

I would bet a pound to a penny that the cabinet are already fully aware of that.

The West wing is a council decision, all at Slough Town FC have no problem if the west wing stays..lets make this clear.. Please dont let this be a red herring.. the club have made 2 propsals , which the council officers asked us too, Its only council that can make that decision..what project they want ....its easy ..the west wing stays or goes...either proposal slough Town FC will be happy with...
