As the season approaches, we have a new manager and a new hope for the season, it's usually at pre - season when I think of re freshing the various standard tunes that announce the start of the game.

 

Last season, I didn't consult, I just did and by November, there were some that wanted the Rocky Theme back. It was the "Theme From The A Team" up to then.

 

Once again, I'm thinking of changing it. Now, having done some research (ask my Missus...she has had to put up with the weird, the wonderful and damn right strange music over the past couple of weeks) and I have a couple of ideas.

 

Now...having bought the CD "The Girl In The Suitcase", I now have the rather fantastic (At The Sign) Of The Swinging Cymbal, which was used for the top 40 chart countdown (maybe still is...I don't know...I don't listen to the top 40 anymore...such is the "downside" of the internet). Now, I could use that for my first read through of the team, replacing "Where Eagles Dare"...or I could use it for the "introduction and welcome to the ground" and keep WED?

 

Of course, we all love "Rocky" when the players walk out but I'm feeling that it's got a bit tired (I thought this last season) and I think time is (over) ripe for a change. Having purchased the Escala CD (I can see JL shaking his head in dispair), there is a great version of Led Zeppelin's Kashmir. It's big, it's loud and it has a certain "meanace"...So, I was thinking...Why not try it for the pre season.

 

Of course, there is the music collage before the players walk out...Welcome Back My Friends, Thunderbirds, One Vision(edit), Lay Your Hands On Me (edit) and Star Wars. I shall be changing this and playing with a new "collage"...

 

So, what do you think. Time for change? I think so. "Rocky" has served us well but it's time to retire it from the play list.

how about a set 10 min medley?

I think the music should be tunes that the majority can enjoy and relate to, tunes that can be sung/hummed along to, by young and old alike.

 

Maybe even a recorded karaoke version, of terrace type songs, sung by the blue army.

 

Whatever it is, I do think it has to be something everyone recognises, remembers, and subconsciously attaches to Billericay town football club.

The premier league clubs do it well I think, they have about a 10/15 minute "colage" prior to kick off, but it is always unique to that particular club.

The music kick starts the crowd singing and is also a countdown to kick-off. It's something we also do well at New Lodge.

 

Everthing can be improved, maybe do a few differnt ones, and put it to the vote?

 

Could finni put them on the website?
