To be honest, I think it's a f***ing insult that football clubs are even contemplating paying wages that high, when their fans who have forked out

Absolutely agree. When you think that the real greats of the pre 1960 lifting of the maximum wage in many cases didn't earn in their entire careers what some of today's players earn in a week it is even more galling.

 

And in many cases those old went back to their original careers after playing.

 

I agree that players should be looked after at the end of their careers but it is now getting silly.

So if you were a top footballer you would decline those sort of wages?

Dunno why people have a hang-up about footballers getting big wages, you don't get this sort of fuss about film actors or singers making millions.

Everyone is entitled to make as much money as they possibly can.

Yes I would, because I don't have a god complex, and I don't want fame or fortune of any kind. I'm a humble chap...

 

Singers mainly make their money from selling albums, which is like a farmer making money from selling crops, so I don't have an issue with that. Footballers run around for 90 minutes a week, maybe scoring a goal, or maybe getting sent off. Why should they get paid

In fact i can't see why the public don't turn its back on football and other sports where so called stars are paid to basically rip off the public
