I think you will find that most Margate fans get there info from the paper bluesteel, lets be honest not many of of us actually come on here, maybe 20/25 or so?

To be fair to Wellsie he does update us when something concrete too.

The article is intersting in so far as whilst we always knew that Dan Stubbs was 'retained' that is different to actually signing a contract for the new season-and without specifically stating that-the implication is that he will be with us next season;so i think thats :

robinson, wheatley, wilson (if he was on a 2 year contract ) ,stubbs, lewis ,pratt and taylor as confirmed to date.

Am i right ?

That given; i think i'll worry about it more if and when we get past wednesday in the high court

I am sure if we could look at the number of hits we have on this site it is many more that 25, the point is and is the same as I have been expressing for months, this is the "official" site, we should get the information at least the same time as the media, don't get me wrong I am NOT criticising all the hard work done by all the volunteers who run the site, just a little bit of input from the club would be nice for a change, anyway enough of the negativity, I for one am looking forward to the new season, bring it on !!!

I just wanted to reiterate a coupe of things.

As soon as we have confirmed news it will be on the official site. Sometimes there may be an overlap between the local media and the official site, that's just the nature of the beast. The local paper for example will be looked at by more people than regularly post on this message board. I tend to agree with Alan's estimate of 20-25 regular posters - that's a very small proportion of the fan base, and a good way to get to floating or "casual" supporters.

We will not speculate or give advance notice of intentions to sign players. Last year's late signing of Rob Haworth by Dartford from under the noses of Wealdstone should be clear enough reminder of why we take that approach. Also, in the current climate we don't want to alert other clubs to who we might be signing. Players we want could be pursuaded to sign for someone else or try to get us into a bidding war.

It's also worth remebering that most clubs use the pre-season to determine which players they want. It's the exception and not the rule that clubs sign loads of players as soon as the previous season ends.

As for the official website, we get over 10,000 hits per week even during the summer, more in season. Hopefully that puts the number of regular posters on this unnofficial - but useful - message board in context.

By the way GT, I didn't personally take your post as critical.

See York City's c*ck up over Gash and Charles from Gravesend. Announced on their website they'd signed (complete with quotes from manager) - turns out they haven't.

10,000 hits a week, that's impressive. Worthwhile selling advertising on the website, or maybe getting it sponsored?

Sponsoship of the website and GATE RADIO for that matter is something that's being looked into. Unfortunately we couldn't be trying to look in a worse economic environment but I do genuinely believe that the combination of website, the league we're in and partuiclarly its geographic spread and the reputation of GATE RADIO should all help us to develop additional income. So if you /your company could be interested, get in touch!
