Burnham this season

I think Jarvis will be flogging a dead horse with Burnham.

His aim is to spend their money, get them promotion and then leave for a team that have the support neccesary to progress.

He doesn't care about Burnham, he is ruthless and ambitious.

Burnham will be a one season wonder who will plummet down to their rightful level.

So our local derby should be quite something then! Can't blame Jarvis if Ian Gould wants to blow his umpiring "fortune" on players.

Yes it probably will be short lived, poor attendances and the cash drying up should see them return to their level, but I don't begrudge them success, I just hope we can do better!

Maybe he can (although I think there is a small matter of the Premier division to negotiate first)and maybe there will be some money, but Burnham is a village with a small population, a tenth of that of Slough, and a fifth of that of Windsor so it is unlikely large crowds will be forthcoming unless they desert Slough, Maidenhead and Windsor, which is highly unlikely! There are only so many non-league supporters to go around.....

Far more important is that football continues locally , that Burnham maintains its infrastructure with its facilities and that the team keeps its level to provide a place for the 26 teams from Burnham Juniors with somewhere to aim for and perhaps for some of them, beyond.

Once you get your new ground, Slough should have the infrastructure and the size of population to get back to the Conference, with crowds back up to the thousand or more you used to get. You have a good manager and he is putting a good team together, so you should be up there challenging.

So let's look at the position at the end of next season. I would like to see us in the play-offs, but let's all be realistic, it takes shed loads of cash to get beyond that and that cash has to be sustainable for the long term, so no wild predictions from us.

I don't think hope will come into it.

Although, on paper, we are assembling a team of tried and trusted players of premier division quality, we are doing this within a budget that should be sustainable for the foreseable future.

I don't think this is the same with Burnham.

How long will they be able keep shelling out money whithout any return?

The Beaconsfield mercenaries (including Jarvis) will then leave and Burnham will have to start from scratch.

Looking at the players though the wage bill must be quite high, the goalkeeper brown said to be the best in the southern prem cant come cheap as well as all the other signings.

As far as I'm aware we have the same budget as last season.

I think the players are signing because of Bateman as well as club potential and support etc. more than the money.
