FORMER Posh and Lincoln City midfield man Ben Sedgemore is the biggest name in an impressive signing spree by new Stamford manager Tuncay Korkmaz.

The 33 year-old Sedgemore has been snapped up as a player-coach after leaving Boston United at the end of last season.

 

Sedgemore is one of 20 confirmed players who will be fighting for places in the Stamford squad next season.

 

Sedgmore played 18 times for Posh during a nine-month stay in 1996 before moving to Mansfield on a free transfer.

 

He went on to enjoy a productive lower-league career with Macclesfield and Lincoln before dropping into the non-league scene in 2004. He lists Canvey Island, Cambridge United and Rushden among his clubs in that sphere.

 

Korkmaz said: "We were looking for both a quality midfield player and a good coach, and we have managed to find both in the same package.

 

Stamford play in the Northern Premier League Division One South. One of my all-time favourites, I've always wanted him back as player/coach.
