Jones yet to agree Margate move

Is the same Sam Jones who was rated so highly that he played 4 times for ramsgate and once for dover at ryman level in the last 2 seasons.

I'm just glad he was not signed;and in fairness, whilst the likes of ward, hess and yorath should be able to recognise talent alot better than me; it does concern me that Yorath was even interested in him in the first place.

He may in time turn out to be the next ronaldo-and well done ward for taking the chance; but at the moment ,for MFC it seems we have to concentrate on the 'hear and now'.

There is enough 'development talent' in the reserves-and who is to say that jones will be a better player than quain.

surely we could not have accomodated both jones and quain.

again, i was surprised that yorath went after him in the first place

Surely the budget will be spent more effectively elsewhere .

seems like he would have been be a bit part luxury player to me

Most of the game goes through central midfield which is where you need the numbers.
Agree wilson and stubbs are ok,
lewis imo needed in defence.
we also have corbishly who could do a job more centrally i reckon;but what about injuries.suspension, loss of form etc.

You need at any one time-at least 3 quality central midfield players- stop the opposition playing, create enough chances,s and the goals will come.

(equally, i am not aware that it has been confirmed that stubbs and corbishley have actually signed up for next season.being retained, is not the same as signing for next season.
Is it corrct thst wilson effectively has, as he was on a two year contract ?

What he has signed a player that cheats on and off the field, back stabs his team mates, blames everyone else for his failings and who sadly survived a car crash in a tunnel.

A bit harsh there, Steve. They improved a lot towards the end of the season, plus they will be a little bit older and more experienced. Also the overall standard of the league could be lower next season. The lads might surprise you (if the club is still in existence of course).

I take SSS point that many players reach a level from which no matter what they will not improve.
However, ii think our 'crop' do have some improvement left in them-both individually-and more importantly as a team.

In addition to Chris points, if we keep the team together from last season; there is an element of continuity which will help;and also as big a factor as the players; is that TY will also have an extra year under his belt.
Ok -he's been round the block a few times-but last season was still his first at ryman level-and he will also have learnt alot about this league to be able to do a `better job this season.
He will also have a proper pre-season to bring some organisation to the defence and get set plays sorted-it can't be easy doing that i moid winter with not everyone turning up for training sessions
