Margate manager Terry Yorath is still waiting to hear from former Ramsgate winger Sam Jones whether he has decided to return to Thanet next season to play at Hartsdown Park.

Jones was released by Dover Athletic manager Andy Hessenthaler at the end of last season and Yorath said:

Really pleased he is hoping to get another midfield player (central midfield anchorman i hope and not one of these lightweight 'widemen' ).

Can someone just remind Terry that if reports are correct-he has signed another striker in Jo Taylor ;but yes-i think we know what he means-we do need a big strong experienced target man

Mind you-i'll be most pleased when i hear we have staved off hmrc

No idea if you are right or wrong, but frankly, i hope you are correct-as i cannot see how a lightweight winger would do much for us,particularly as he just played one game for dover last season.

How long does a player have to have'potential 'for ?

One season is more than long enough and he has now had two at other clubs.

You've either got it or you have'nt

Much better to get quality down the spine of the team by getting the striker and strong central midfield player.

worry about the fringes later.

After a season mainly on the bench at Dover, perhaps he wanted guarantees about first team action that TY was (rightly if it is the case) unable to do.

Maybe he just is'nt confident in his own ability ,and did not want to step out of his comfort zone.

Mind you-he may yet sign for MFC-but not a priority position imo.

Lets get some guys who can bully the opposition.

TY said himself we were bullied off the ball too ofeten last season-so lets get some muscle in-never mind the pretty stuff.

Lets do it the way Leeds did in the seventies.

Get the points on the board-whatever it takes-then slowly but surely-start playing football

Why a backward step? Yes you are in a league above us now, and that must mean that you are a better team, but maybe after talking to yorath and jim ward of which he did, he may well of thought of all the financial trouble your in and decided that ramsgate are the better club. Sorry but imo if he had signed for you then he would without doubt been one of your better players.
Sorry but i still think you are all burying your heads in the sand and hoping this debt will go away Sadly it wont and one day it will catch up with your club (unless of course someone finds a spare hundred odd grand)

Hopefully, that day is not today and can't disagree with your second paragraph.

As for jones-as i sposted earlier-just my opinion, but spine of the team is more important-wide man are a luxury-we have Quain any way.

Most wingers buzz around and then fall over at the point of delivery;and even if they are better than most, their team mates never seem to know what they are doing.

get pushed off the ball too easily at this level.

look great in summer-and are useless in the winter
