More at home than usual.

Carlisle-now thats an odd one-i guess they are 'on tour' (not too many away supporters though i would think !! )

whilst i suspect it may not be there first team squad, one wonders how this 'connection' comes about.

Is there a competition for the seasons 'furthest distance ' psf.

Carlisle to Margate must be a 1200 mile round trip.

I assume we'll field one set of 11 on the Friday and then the other 11 on the Saturday.

I'm simply grateful that there are two decent fixtures lined up to test the team and manager.

(is subject to change anyway-and still looks a bit odd to me, as carlisle equally have fixtures 'ooop norf' squeezed in either side of the friday

Primarily of course, these games are for training so I always take a different perspective on them. For example, if it was me, I'd use the games on a Friday and a Saturday to look at different things and different people. The different opposition in itself will help do that. I don't think 2 games of this type in 2 days is a problem.

The Ramsgate games are the interesting ones and will of course be like no other "friendly". They should up the competitive readiness if nothing else!

I guess we will have one warm up friedly before the 'weekend special ' of carlise and grays; (faversham ?) and more importantly-i wonder who we will play on the 9th august,by when it should all have ' come together'

It can't be on the 9th as league season starts for them on that day, but i would like to see us play a conf south side (welling/bromley ?) as that would give us the best idea of how we are shaping up

A quick look at Carlisle site shows that they are on a training camp in Colchester that week but we seem to be the only friendly they have, so far, during that spell.

Yes-just had a look, and on the basis they have and will be preparing for Hull the following tuesday, good chance that they will be playing many of their first team squad against us i would have thought

Interesting .

Never realiised that.

Along similar lines, i wonder if its ever contemplated playing French opposition-nearer than going to London.

Nice to hear from you JJ - are you 'warming up' for a plethora of posts after tomorrows meeting ?

I really hope we can 'defeat' HMRC

Defeat HMRC!!!! No football club will ever defeat HMRC as they are the ones that have money owed to them. Anyways lets hope MFC get a reprieve again from HMRC. Please accept my appologies though Michael as I feel that picking up on the word defeat, is myself being a little bit pedantic.
