valid comment, although maybe its not confirmed yet-and i do remeber last year the unconfirmed ramsgate friendly being cancelled ,although i suspect not the case this year (are we competing for the Gazette cup ?)

There does seem to be a bit of a trend however, for a few clubs announcing their friendlies 'enbloc'when all are finalised as opposed to piecemeal

Just under 42 days to go ,and its now over 42 days since the staines debacle.

Over half way through the close season, and there will probably be a fixture before this as well.

On the downward stretch now until the season starts

Last season both Margate and Ramsgate were in the same league and friendlies between two teams in the same league is pretty much un-heard of and I think it was cancelled due to that (tactics wise?)? Wouldn't have thought theres any problem with it this year and that it should go ahead.

That's unfair. We made sure that the confirmation (and even the delay of the announcement) about which division we'd be in, was made on the official club website before other media outlets. The same will be true of other news where and when we can. That's not just about when I get the info, it's also how the club want to do things - when the news is factual (rather than probable or speculative) and to the fans first. There's loads of time between now and the first friendlies of the pre-season and when we have more of the schedule confirmed we will of course announce them via www.margate-fc.com.

You can't really win Wellsie. All in all, I think you do a commendable job. If you put things on the official website, before they were completely confirmed, and they then subsequently changed, you would be slated. See the Harwood situation, for example; many were convinced that was a 'done deal', yet we all know how that ended up!

seems like we are lining up a good cross section of friendlies.

Personally, i hope we don't have too many ,as i increasingly think that the 'importance' of pre season friendlies are overated;and invariably provide no guide whatsoever to actual league form ,which is a completely different kettle of fish.

If we have a reasonably settled and sizeable squad mainly carried over from last season-again, i reckon that we don't actually need too many friendlies this year.

I think I remember a certain person across the island saying that he had his best team ever after the pre-season friendlies. How on earth he thought that team would stay up is beyond me, lining up easy friendlies is hardly the best preparation.
