Steve Newing/Del Deanus/George Borg

Recommended Posts

What a shame to read so much negative vibes on here.

New Managment Team was needed / wanted by many - we get 2 good guys with experience at this level AND someone like George to be involved in Coaching.....and STILL the initial comments are negative.

WHY ?

I thought that Adam Lee was supposed to be the saviour of Enfield Town when he arrived but didn't last five minutes and I'll be surprised if Del Deanus and Steve Newing will. There is bound to be conflict and a clash of personalities with George Borg who, we all know, likes to be the main man so I can't see it working with Borg taking a back seat role.

Old Towner - I wasn't trying to come across as negative, far from it, as Del Deanus and Steve Newing are more than capable of doing a job at Goldsdown Road, it's just that George Borg's appointment seems odd and, despite his experience and reputation, I think he will be surplus to requirements.

I think the appointment is exciting. What I hear is that George will be doing the coaching, with Steve and Del boy managing and assembling the players.

Sometimes have 3 in a relationship is one too many, However, George is a top man, way above our current level, however (again) does he have the knowledge of players at our level willing to ply their work/skills on the budget we have this season, my gut feeling says maybe not, but can kick ar5e and keep discipline on a coaching front then yes. So as we all recognise, his appointment is very much welcomed, he wont put up with the likes of Tickner/Crace/Bastians mafia like stance's and Disco's refusal to be a sub at a league game, thats for sure.

As for Steve and Del, they will put in the efforts of not only managing the team but putting in the time to watch other games/opponents something that was'nt in SM's locker i'm afraid. They will also have their wide network of contacts and players at our level and wont need to put individuels on contracts, end of the day, success should be every players drug and contract.

I wish the 3 every piece of luck and the ultimate success, i'm positive that this is going to be a very exciting season, like Southport Towner we should aim for the title however so long as we are off and running with a good number of wins from August then we can support together and all as one again, unlike the start of last season.

A raise a drink (or 3) to the new appointments.

At least the Board has gone through an alleged (collective) process and come out with a sensible and reasoned set of appointments.

Town have hired Steve Newing and Del Deanus who we have watched from afar and sneakingly envied.

George Borg is always welcome in the Borough and loved by the fans. In the past I met some of his family who were trust members at the creation of ETFC (and very proud of George).

AD-I agree with you totally, at the end of the day we are allsupporters and ETFC are now LBoE senior representatives for Football, so the club is inserted in our hearts. Some fans have blown a gasket from last seasons events and performances, but those who have actually stuck two fingers up at the club and said 'i'm off' to support someone else and kept to the word, well, they are not true supporters. Some may say things but in the heat of the moment and continue to always be around. They are the passionate folk who care.

All thats happened is that the board have had a harsh learning curb from the SM/AL/MS appointment last season. I understood why they were appointed but in hindsight we may have got better candidates had we advertised and appointed the best candidate/s.

Its fair to say, we are not gonna make that error again and I believe we are looking forward to an exciting season.

May it just be possible that Georgie only wants to be Coach?
