Pat Mullins

Better the devil you know ? and there are many worse in this league.

Equally, we are hardly in a position to afford the likes of a 'top 5 keeper'

Goalkeepers will always make mistakes-and if he has signed-and makes a few fewer mistakes than last season, then it will all be ok.

Maybe it will help him with a more steady defence in front of him as well.

Hardly his fault, but i just thought his lack of inches was the biggest hindrance to him being a really good keeper-but there again-many of us would love an extra inch or two.

He needs to find a way to avoid those 'lobbed shots' dropping in over him-call for Nev

To be fair though Coffin Ender I think Pat Mullins would be a great number 2 to have if Terry does sign a better goalkeeper.

If that's the case Coffin Ender then so be it, I wouldn't say Beresford is any better then Mullins.

Good luck to Pat for next season,he is certainly capable of some fantastic saves. He can also make mistakes like any keeper or any player and some of the outfield players made far more mistakes than Pat last season ,the difference is the other players mistakes generally do not result in a goal but if you are the last line of defence then it does.

If he was perfect he would be playing conference or pro football and even those keepers make mistakes. At this level he should do a good job next season so lets have positive comments and give Pat and the rest of the players the confidence to have a good season.

applause A very sensible and to the point statement ACDC, whether its because its closed season or that fans on here want World Class players for the money MFC are offering is beyond me sometimes. We have got the players we have through either budget constraints (much like other teams) or TY/NS believe in the players they have signed - cmon fellas lets not KNOCK the team before the season even starts, they need our SUPPORT and belief that this season WILL be better than last!!!

Starts with a clean sheet for me !

I think he had a pretty good first half season once he got in the side in early november; but yep-second half after the ramsgate away game was a bit dubious.

I think until January everybody was raving over Pat Mullins whilst i admit i was still hoping SCS would 'stage a comeback'.

New season, new start for everyone-and above all -he is very much TY's signing and player now, so TY also has his own reputatuion at stake here.

Above all-more continuity for next season,so similarly-at this stage -fine by me.

looks like we can field a full team now for next season-when was the last time we could say that in early June ?

Just need a quality target man, and for me-a quality and experienced central midfield player and we've got a squad who will finish at least mid table

Agree-but despite all that our defensive record was only the 14th worst in the division, and we conceded fewer than we did the previous season;so if we improve defensively by just 15%-which is just 9 fewer goals conceded, we would have had the 7th best defensive record in the league.

Surely we can find a way to concede 10 fewer goals at least ,and that would set us up quite nicely for a rerasonable season;so i'm feeling pretty good about things at the moment (easy to say that when we have'nt yet kicked a ball though-thats when the anguish starts !!)

Margins are so small between relatice success and failure-but if everything improves just 10% the overall combined effect is substantial.

Imagine conceding 10% fewer goals and scoring 10% more-that would probably amount to an additional 16 points over a season

So they were CE but we have to agree some of the out field play was pretty awful at times , better 2nd half of the season but to late by then . Pat is a good keeper and he has showed us the bad and good sides of his game , the pinicle point being the Rams game where a certain amount of our own surport turned on him .

He knows he has been slagged off , written off by alot of us but to have the guts to sign for us again after what he has had thrown at him makes me think he has something to prove and if he has the right back 4 in front of him that are playing to the standard Terry wants them to play then we could be eating our words come the end of the new season .

Good luck Pat as to the rest of the squad whoever they may be .

Up the Gate .

My one big hope pre-season was a replacement for Pat-io who in my opinion could easily have been replaced with a sandbag at times with greater success resulting.

Besides his blunders was the selfish arrogance i witnessed displayed by him in the bar during SCS's stint early season when following an early goal he asked who was to blame, upon receiving the answer "goalkeeper error" he said "Good" all while wearing the club tracksuit.

I made my mind up then, enough said!

Blimey, one of our players attending a game when they weren't playing - sounds like someone who wants to play for the team to me. Delighted to hear that Pat will be back next season. As of right now his record is no goals conceded.
