We may only get 8-9000 coming to HDP over the season but thats 8-9000 less coming into Thanet if we were not around . Its easy and as Pagey has showed us Dartford have got eveything that most teams want . We go up the leagues the club name goes further afield , people will come and visit , simple .
Up the Gate .

You couldn't cc Castle Point Council in that letter could you?!

I dont recall the club every asking for actual cash from Thanet Council only support for the ideas and plans.

Sadly for us Sandy Ezekiel does not like Keith Piper and has made sure over the years he has delayed, blocked or just cancelled council meetings that were to discuss our future.

He is only interested in projects involving people he is in the pocket of and we dont need to name them as it is common knowledge.

If this Council under his leadership had the b0llocks to actually do anything constructive about the town it might stop us dying completely as a community. But no that would be too bl00dy simple.

The Art Centre will be a drain on ALL Kent ratepayers and despite having a further

Dartford Council have got it right no doubt in my mind, they have invested in a facility for all of the community, with facilities for many not just football, add a youth set up for both sexes and all ages and all of the boxes are ticked, what a refreshing attitude to local sport even when they are a stones throw away from Premiership and many other League and non league clubs, what a great pity that our short sighted bunch of wannabee politicians cant see past their inflated expenses claims !!!

Always one for the high-life (!) I stayed in Margate for a couple of days at the back end of last summer at the top of the hill opposite the Gardens where the theatre is... I couldn't believe how run down it has become. No life, nothing! So Sad... I used to love the place as a kid. The wife made me promise not to take her there again!

Just out of interest (or otherwise), I spend a lot of time promoting Margate up here in SE London. Many of my friends who would not have otherwise bothered about Margate now know through me a lot about the place (and I always try to make the place sound really good). In fact many of them actually listen to Radio Kent and tell me of things they have heard.

To the point: I came down on Sunday 31st May and needed to buy a few sticks of Margate rock for an event that I am promoting up here shortly. I didn't have a lot of time to park and walk around Margate looking but thought it would be simple enough to drive along the sea front and find a place whereby I could pull up, jump out of the car (or get my wife to) buy the rocks and go about my business.

I could not easily see one source of supply!

If you go along Southend sea front there are plenty of stalls along there (and I'm talking about October time as well) so has Margate forgotten it is a seaside resort?

No doubt in due course of time, when that building site by the harbour is finished, I shall be able to buy paint brushes and palettes with "a present from Margate" inscribed there-on.

The same cannot be said for clubs of lesser size, even including teams in the championship,i think teams like burnley and blackburn are exceptions to the rule.
Look at southend, population way over that of burnleys, you would hardly say southend united fc is the centre of the community

Dartford Football Club were formed in 1888. They are indeed part of the community.
The article in question has so many flaws its clearly written by a numbskull with little knowledge of football or council spending as a whole.
Nearly every council in the country spends on average

I think one of our problems is that Margate & Ramsgate are both part of Thanet DC and if Thanet DC were to build a community stadium would they build one in each town (and what about Broadstairs) or would there be one for Thanet.

Takes us back a few years!

Yes, I remember a plan for a stadium at Westwood opposite B&Q! That must have been in the 70's!

Funnily enough the Council threw that idea out as well.

Whilst we have a corupt council and council leader (sue me and be dammed Ezekiel) we as a town and District will die

11-15pm Tuesday night.

Drove down Margate sea front, up through the ghetto that is the bottom end of Northdown rd, passed the Renault garage, hungry horse. Passed St Peters Estate. dropped of my fare. Drove down to our office in Broadstairs, picked up the office lady. I then headed towards Ramsgate as I passed the college I saw my first person walking, no staggering home. I was passing the Nissan garage before I saw another vehicle traveling the highway and that was a police car. I was through the king street lights before I saw any one else.

That's how busy this tourist area is these days.
