The club

Recommended Posts

Went past the club a little while ago, there must of been a tournament going on down there as the club was open and seemed to be a steady stream of people going through the turnstyles, which is obviously good for the club.Only problem was that there seemed to be no organisation with regards to parking and there were cars parked all over the entrance,up the sides of the drive leading down to the club and either side of the front entrance on the road were two large vans parked leaving just about enough room for a car to get through.

In all honesty it is an accident waiting to happen,if a kid runs out from behind one of the vans and a car is coming, who would be responsible,i saw no one there organising anything with regards to parking and in all honesty it was a mess.

Whether it is hornchurch playing or not, once the locals know there is a game being played they will assume it is connected with hornchurch in one way or another.

Also, why is the club not open for the fans at certain times, yesterday was FA cup final day and a good opportunity for the club to open and make a bit of money over the bar but this didn't happen. My concern is that we are so worried about taking money from outside interests in kids games on a pitch that really should be having a rest in the summer that the club seems to be neglecting the fans a bit.

We have no revenue apart from these outside interests and a bar that sits dormant throughout the summer months until the football season starts.

If we can stage events like todays for local kids teams why can the club not stage events for the fans like the cup final,or our return leg of darts against canvey or a presentation night etc etc

Obviously these can be sorted by the supporters club but until we know exactly whats going on with the club, the supporters club cannot get up and running completely as we don't know what sort of constitution we are having, numbers of fans going to games etc.

Just seems we are getting to the stage where the fans are lowest on the list of priorities, something which would not happen at clubs like canvey, ricay etc

Ain't got a problem with the event being staged,as i know its a council run stadium and they have as much right to play there as we do but the organisation outside was shocking, cars parked all the way up the drive on the grass,if we don't park there on matchdays then others shouldn't when they use the stadium.

the bar was open which is good but it should also be open for certain events like the FA Cup final for the fans, even the champions league final last wednesday, had it been publicised would of drawn in a few people all spending money behind the bar.

While i appreciate that opening the bar evey night may not benefit the club financially,i feel it needs to at least be open some of the time as i don't see the point in something which can potentially make the club precious money sitting dormant for 3 months

Obviously I'm talking out of my backside here, but I assume someone would of been paid to look after the car park etc, on match days, and I suppose things are tight at the moment. If things like that were run by volunteers then it was up to the club to rustle up someone to do it. Obviously I don't know about the state of play with your club, but it seems bad that you as a supporter only knew about it because you happened to be passing by.

i dislike the council at the best of times, they are useless, even something as easy as picking up the garbage is normally fcked up,they forgot to do it the last two weeks and asked us to dispose of it ourselves.Told them to fck off,so they eventually picked it up thursday!!!

Agreed lightweight, the parking senario was a joke,if some kid was walking up the drive and got hit by a car reversing from the grass on the side or a kid walking out in the road behind a van that was blatently obstructing their sight all hell would break loose.

You cant volunteer for something we nothing about mate. That wall from Belin was knocked down and has been rebuilt in Horchurch.

sorry for butting in, Bob you are spot on, why not set up a roles and responsibity agenda for your next meeting for each volunteer, see who wants to do what, then spread the stuff unpopular around but have firm control over who does what, maybe mental could pass on some of our conversations discussing this.
