I don't agree with that. I don't think Platini hates English football. He hates what English football has become and i'm with him on that. Premier League greed, comprising mainly of clubs owned by foreigners as their playthings, boring top 4 never changing. Clubs not developing youngsters, preferring to pay obscene amounts to foreign 'stars' and average English players.

Platini actually talks a lot of sense, unlike Blatter who he's sometimes unfairly bracketed with.

Platini also lives in the free market and in Britain we have open doors to foreign investments on top of the biggest football tv deals in the world, whence thats where the worlds top players want to be.

Saying that, yes, if Platini can get clubs to field 5 out of 11 starting players being from their own produce then great, it'll level the playing field. Problem is though, we'll end up having a Euro Super league with the top clubs from the top countries forming their own league/tv deals/sponsorships etc etc as soon as you try and put straight jackets on the G14 clubs.

Forget about the clubs investing in youngsters at home, they will to a degree, but a fantasticly successful academy such as Arsenal have kept only 4 boys moving into the U17 age groups for next season, that because they also have academies abroad and will only keep 17-18 from their academies from around the world the rest go out to find new clubs or further their academic education.

The big boys rule i'm afraid, we all know that, and yes as a Man Utd fan, we played sh1te tonight very uncharateristic of us, Barcelaona were only slightly better, with their two midfielders making all the difference with the key moments.

As a Man U (& Roy Keane fan for what it's worth) this is the first time i have ever seen Ronaldo & Rooney rattled at the same time. with 10 min,s in i would have thought they were well able to sort this out.

Just goe,s to show Non league or not this football lark can sure miss with the mind. (no matter how much they get paid)

Bye Bye Ronaldo.

Re Platini. The man knows his stuff and should be given the respect he deserves regardless of where he comes from.

Bring on the Lions Tour.

barcelona were far better than yanited, messi was quiet but iniesta and xavi make carrick, scholes, giggs etc look like donkeys

lets not forget that yanited have hardly set the premier league on fire with regards to beating the top four in the league, just getting a point against arsenal, none against liverpool and i think 1 against chelsea.

Yanited won the league because they were more consistant against the sides away from the top four like hull and stoke to name a couple. And all 3 of the other sides went through a month or so of bad results, arsenals was for 2 months although they were never in the race

Think next season unless yanited spend you will find either chelsea or liverpool winning it unless arsene wenger suddenly spends 30/40 million quid from somewhere.

Will be closer next season though between all 4

I agree with all those comments. We got 4pts off Chelsea and 1pt in total off Liverpool/Arsenal.

United were outplayed in Central midfield and have had plenty of 1-0 wins and late winners this season, as have Liverpool. They'll have to improve the right back position, get Hargreaves back and upto form again and somehow convince us that Berbatov is THE man. If they do they'll stay ahead of the game.

I fancy Spurs and Harry boy to be not too far away next season though

I think that you will find that the most complaints against Arsenal of late is that we are using our younger players that have come through the system or been brought in as untried inexpensive potential stars of the future and NOT spending the money on overpriced foreign players.

Your right, Arsenal do give the untried youngster with potential the platform, but they are more likely to be from the Ivory Coast, France etc than Hackney or Islington, in other words opportunities given to youngsters abroad are denying those raw talented kids in our society.

Clubs will always do whats good for them and the community side of things is just a token unwilling gesture forced upon clubs by local authorities. A lot more needs to be done locally still to convince me clubs care about the kids and the communities they live in.

hmmmmm

jack wilshire, keiron gibbs, henri landsbury, jay emanuelle thomas, jay simpson to name 5 who have played under wenger this season and there are more to come.Wenger can't win,one minute he is accused of not bringing english players through, when he does the press moan that they are too young, luckily, top managers very rarely listen to the press.

Gibbs came in to the first team this year and let himself down with a slip against yanited in the champions league semi, apart from that he is a cracking player.

the reason why wenger prefers foreign players is quite simple, they are better than the english players. The crop of young english youngsters he has now have come through the academy together since the age of around 11/12,some like wilshire will be the future starts for england. This kid will make ronaldo look like a pauper if he keeps his head screwed on.
