Wadham Lodge FC

Wadham Lodge FC, who, surprise, surprise, play at Wadham Lodge, Walthamstow, the recent home of Waltham Forest FC, have allegedly applied for membership of the Essex Olympian League.

 

In the 2008/09 season, they finished 3rd in the Premier Division of the Essex Business Houses League but were nowhere in that league in 2007/08.

 

The ECFA Handbook shows them as becoming affiliated to the ECFA in 2008.

 

So were they newly formed in 2008 and went straight into EBHL Premier or were they re-named and played in that league or another league?

 

Can anyone throw any light on the origins of Wadham Lodge FC, Help!!!

Complicated story concerning Wadham Lodge. Wouldn't claim to know all the ins and outs. The only facts I know are that a husband and wife team were reserve manager and reserve team secretary respectively of Waltham Forest FC. They seemed to have taken over the running of the clubhouse/bar (which has always been a separate entity from Pennant/Walthamstow Pennant/Leyton Pennant) a couple of years ago, but I don't know if they are the "owners", the "leaseholders" or are just running the place on behalf of others.

 

Waltham Forest FC were forced out of the ground at the end of the 07/08 season and their place taken in 08/09 by Wadham Lodge FC, with the same husband and wife team acting as manager and secretary. This could just be coincidental and they may just have been in the right place at the right time, I really don't have enough inside information to assume otherwise (the one Wadham Lodge match I tried to get to last season was waterlogged off).

 

Anyway, after one season in the Essex Business Houses League, the club have now applied to the Essex Olympian League for what will be their second season of existence.

Would it necessarily be the main pitch (Home of Mauritius Sports Association)? There are other pitches at Wadham Lodge.

Yeah that's true, good point, there are some intermediate standard pitches to the left of the club-house, I was wondering how WL would pay for the main pitch. Any news on our fora?
