Wonder if we are one of the clubs appealing, or we would be happy being in the Midlands league (presuming we are placed there), although the two clubs I guess are probably Winchester with their points deduction and Gloucester, who could end up in Conf North.

looks like Winchester might have lost their appeal as it no longer says on the Southern League website 3 points deducted (subject to appeal) the subject to appeal part has been deleted

Yep, so alongside Burnham and Sycob we have been switched to the Midland division.

Not an absolute disaster but I am a little disappointed. Still yet more new grounds to visit.

There may still be one or two moves yet it seems.

"NLS club allocations released

Friday, 29 May, 2009

The FA, in conjunction with the Football Conference, Isthmian, Northern Premier and Southern Leagues, has released the Step 1 to Step 4 club allocations for Season 2009-10.

There remain, however, a small number of issues that may result in further changes to the published list being applied. Such changes will be published here on TheFA.com.

In confirming these allocations it was agreed that a complete review of the current league boundaries would take place during the course of next season.

With regard to relegation from Step 4 to Step 5, the following was recommended, subject to the agreement of the leagues concerned;

Crowborough Atheltic FC to Sussex County League

Dunstable Town FC to Spartan South Midlands League

Hillingdon Borough FC to Spartan South Midlands League

Malvern Town FC to Midland Football Alliance

Winchester City FC to Wessex League

Witham Town FC to Essex Senior League

In addition, Gresley Rovers FC took the decision to resign from Step 4 competition."

Slightly disappointed with this as I quite liked the league we were in, but at least we will have a few different local derbies with Chesham, Aylesbury and Marlow in there. Will be interesting to visit new grounds and see how Bateman's new team will handle the change of league.

They groundshare with Sutton Coldfield... not quite a galaxy far far away, but not far off...

I am not looking forward to seeing where the end of season walk is this year...

That remains to be seen. Three of the top 4 teams from last season are no longer in the league, and only Hitchin have been relegated from a higher level. Based on performance last season Atherstone will probably start as favourites. Chesham are well backed, have a good manager and made the play-offs last season and will do well again. If Burnham do have a decent budget with Jarvis and the SYCOB squad then I'd have thought they'd be up there too. After that, things could well be quite open.

A lot of the teams I don't have a great deal of knowledge about, but if a team with relatively modest resources like Leighton Town finished 8th last time out, and the Ducks with their nomadic status can finish 10th, I can't see why Slough can't be competitive this season.
